You don’t have it yet, Gehn.
You don’t have it yet, Gehn.
i have all the weapons but i didn’t like the moonlight sword so much… i’ll definately agree that it is technically the best weapon in the game, it reminded me some of the lavis cannon from PSO (with the projectile blade of light).
i like weapons more for style than for power; otogi is a horrendously easy game anyway. i think it would be cooler if there wasn’t the delay in the dash and you could dash in a new direction during a dash, that would make the game much faster and more intense… but it’s their game so whatever
have you played ninja gaiden? i like but don’t love it. the thing is, there are so many things you can do in ninja gaiden that you can’t do in otogi (there is a move list of around 20-30 moves for each weapon, much more interaction with the environments, and these crazy “essence attacks” where you draw in the stuff left behind from freshly killed enemies and then release a crazy combo on something). i keep forgetting what i’m playing and try to do things in otogi that i could do in NG
i still like otogi more for the stylistic value
I understand what you mean about the differnces between Otogi and NG, but in essence, they’re just different types of games. There would be no purpose to, say, wall-running in Otogi, but I agree with the different combos and attacks with each weapon.
My main problems with NG come from the camera system (or lack thereof) and the horrendous level design in some places (Underground Cavern, Military Base, etc.).
There’s a few other weapons in Otogi 1 that I like, but in terms of sheer kick-assedness, Moonlight Sword steals the show. Aside from that, I personally like any of the double blades.
Well I don’t think NG is trying to be Otogi in anyway. They are different games.
The only thing that i think would be brutal in Otogi is : they could make the midair boost in strafe way like Gun Valkyrie.
I mean you can boost to the left but Raikoh consequently turns his whole body to that direction.
Sure …
i didn’t mean to say that NG was much like otogi, it’s just i kept trying things on accident. i’d see a bunch of exp left behind from dead demons and think “ESSENCE ATTACK!!” then i’d hold down Y only to perform a greater slash
gehn, i’m not bragging, you’ll see it gets really easy
by the end of the game the only levels that were a bit of a challenge were the second to last level and this one earlier on where it was really easy to lose your magic. the second time through i had no trouble at all. beating the hydra isn’t very easy if you don’t have the moonlight sword. and the 400 hit combo is also kinda hard. but those aren’t required anyway.
i have a save file on “a chilled moon” where i intentionally avoided leveling up so that the battle would be more intense.
gunvalkyrie is really easy too
Haha.I was saying that the game was a bit harder that what coudlbe expected for me on my first try.I only collected ONE mercy orb thus my health bar was a poor one…
But yeah, the game is quite simple.GV is not that hard either but it hard to master…
Btw I finished the game in an almost complete fashion yesterday.I had already beten it before, but I went for the 100% spirit and items thingy…
I got everything except the Wood Sword. That challenge is hard…
I really liked the Orchid Malevolence concept…
i too really like the orchid malevolence concept, but since raikoh isn’t the most agile character ever, there are many levels where splash damage is prevalent and you will quickly find yourself dead.
my strategy for the 400 hit combo…
get genbu 3 and the rune scimitars (the weaker you are, the better). face the entrance after you break the rock. you’ll find a nice distance at about 3/4ths of the way between where the rock was and the opening (you’re closer to the rock). as they come do, the b,b,b,x combo. this will set up a wall of butterflies that they will run into. repeat that combo, hopefully cutting a few wood spirits before you release the next wall.
you have to keep it so not of the wood spirits are getting passed you, but that there are not huge gaps between hits (or you’ll lose the combo). once you find the right spot, keep in mind that you will slowly move forwards because the push back of the magic does not negate the steps forward in the combo.
i got a combo of 599 and 679 doing that.
but the weapon isn’t really worth it… just for completion’s sake
Thanx Megathedium
Ill try.
Did it
Managed to get all objects int he game.
But the weapons specs still trouble me.
Weapon “X” as an attack power than is shown next to it’s magical and defensive power, but then if you lookf for it’s description your find another AT power meter with a differnet value. What does this mean???!!
I’d have to see exactly what you’re referring to.
It might just be the attack power of the weapon when it’s equipped?
Hmm, the second value might have something to do with “final” damage after you take weapon wear and such into account. Also it might indicate what your strong attack power is (compared to your regular attack). Also remember that things like total weight on your character affects your damage levels, with higher weight your weak attack does less damage but your strong attack does more damage.
The Attack bar in the wepons’s description never changes regardless of what you are wearing at the moment so…
But it’s value has nothing to do with the ATK bar (the one next to the Life and MP ones) most of the times…
Otogi is one of the games I want to pick up sometime in the future along with Ninja Gaiden, as I’ve played the demos to both and enjoyed them quite thoroughly. I don’t know why the reviewer expects brains in a killathon. He’s practically described every single game involving jumping, money, and a body count.
It had to sell, because they’re brining Otogi 2 over to the US.
Need I name the example that will prove you wrong Fmalink??
Thats what i’ve heard from game informer.
You missundertsood me
I was going to prove you wrong when you said that good sales are needed for a sequel to come out.
I was going to point out that Panzer Dragoon is living proof of that not beeing true.
I’m not going to comment directly on the sales of Otogi 1, but let’s just say that the release of the sequel in the US has nothing to do with the sales of the first one.
Indeed I have misunderstood you.
What you say is true, for it not only obviously applies to PD, but also Otogi. Since it was only released for Xbox, which is not a truely dominant force in Japan, it didn’t sell rather well and Ninja Gaiden has already surpased its sales, but indeed a sequel was announced.
