Yes and in case you dind’t knwo it it’s alreday out in Japan for a while
i suppose they were hoping that the first one made mythological japanese demon slaying games more… culturally relevent?
i had a feeling that if sega decided not to bring the sequel over, someone else would have. though i am very happy that sega is doing it because they did such a great job with the voice acting in the first.
Well, Sega will be reusing as much of the original cast as possible.
i was wondering if you could clear something up just about otogi 2 in general… i was wondering about the 6 characters. i had guessed that they were going to change it so that instead of there being different weapon types for each character, each character would have their own weapon type.
like the werewolf’s being the double swords, the samurai using heavy swords, raikoh using regular swords, the tree stump using the pirate ship steering wheels… o_O
is that somewhere near correct? and how are the 6 characters implemented anyway? can you choose any of them to play in any level? or does each one have their own “campaign” like in sonic adventure? do you have all of them from the start or do you have to unlock/encounter them throughout the game?
Each character has their own set of weapons, and no, they don’t overlap. So, in a way, you’re right.
However, the differenes between the characters don’t end their. Each character has various nuances to the way they play.
For instance, 2 of the characters, Kintoki and Seimei, have a “throw” technique instead of a Heavy Attack. Using this technique, they can grab enemies, aim, then throw them at various objects/other enemies. Suetake (the guy with the pirate ship… I mean buddhist wheel thing on his back) has a very wide-ranged attack, and also can jump limitlessly, but is very slow. He is also the only one now that can cast Level 3 spells. Seimei can cast 2 fully charged spells in a row during a combo (instead of just one), and though she can’t equip Level 3 spells, she has 4 spells that are completely unique to her and are extremely badass.
Sadamitsu (little girl) is the fastest and you can play her without ever touching the ground (her and Seimei technically don’t have limitless jumping, but after a double jump, just perform any action in the air, and you will be able to double-jump again). She also can string up to 9 attacks together. Also, in mid-combo, if you press the heavy attack at certain point, she will either throw her scythe or launch her crow at enemies, which freezes them.
Kintoki (big axe man) cannot double jump and he can only equip Level 1 spells, but he is extremely powerful. Even his light attacks are like heavy attacks and cause enemies to go flying. He also has the highest maximum life capacity.
Tsuna (wolf guy) is a well-balanced character with a focus on group combat. During certain parts of his combo, if you press the heavy attack button, he will send out a shockwave in all directions, hitting all nearby enemies. Awesome for levels where you get swamped with enemies.
Raikoh is, of course, the most well balanced.
The game is broken down into phases. During each phase, there may be up to 5 or 6 levels to choose from. Once you beat a certain level with a certain character, you cannot use that same character to beat another level in that phase. That makes it very important to choose the right character for the right level (well, when you go back and replay levels, you can choose whoever you want). Sometimes, depending on the story, only certain characters may be available to play certain levels.
I hope that answers your questions (and you pretty much start off with everyone, except for in the very first level).
Wow, interesting, now I’m really getting excited over this game. Sega’s translation+improved gameplay from the first=win! They sure changed the combo/heavy attack system for the second game, didn’t they? Oh, and are environments just as destructable/more destructable than the first game? Actually, have they set a release date for the game? It might have some tough competition if it’s released after October…
yeah, that sounds really badass
this could be my personal game of the year… if they fixed one issue i had with it…
the dash delay, the little float time between dashes… it kinda hurt the speed of the game. i would have much rather the character dashed again much sooner while holding down R and the ability to dash in a new direction while mid-dash would also have made it more intense. then they could have made the enemies faster and the whole game a bit more skill based.
but even if they don’t change that, it sounds great
do you mind if i quote this for another videogame forum?
What about Odoggy - the new game staring Tsuna? You knwo anything about it Abadd?
And I agree with Megatherium about that little delay in dashes.Sometimes I prefered just to run…
The dash wasn’t meant to be used as a means to zip around the level like Shinobi or GV… it’s more used as just a means to travel across gaps, perform a dodge, etc.
And sure, you can quote what I said.
