Otogi Review ~ What a shame

I prefer Capcom’s Devil May Cry when it comes to wanton destruction. The sequel was a joke but that’s only because the producer of the first game (Shinji Mikami) didn’t head the creation of the sequel (he’s busy working on Resident Evil 4 I think, and he really hates Sony – no surprises there).

If you read my comment, you’d notice that I said “It’s impressive” at the end… meaning that I was saying that Otogi 2 is leagues beyond what Otogi 1 accomplished visually

Just to clarify.

Playing Otogi…

Great game.I got stuck (!!) on that Soul Reaver Girl a bit cause I was stupid enough not to read the text “she is invinceble when the clouds appear” :stuck_out_tongue:

But ever since it has been great fun.

This game’s level design completely blows me away.

Oh and the graphics too.

The sound altho good is repetitive most of the time (the music anyways).

I’m currently on the worm boss.

Hey I need you guys to answer me a question.

I’m currently facing Michizane.

BUt I only have three health balls.

Now I’ve seen screenshots of the game all over the net and most of them had 5 or 4 balls.

My level has risen many times now but…

Isn’t my health gauge suposed to grow?

You’ve played through the entire game with only 3 Life?!?!

Wow. I’m impressed

In various levels, you will encounter these floating creatures that look like stone statues surrounded by a stone ring. Defeat them, and they drop an item that will give you an extra Life (but it will only show up after you beat that level).

Make sure you go back and THOROUGHLY beat each level. Find all the Spirits, break everything, search every corner. Otherwise, you’ll miss half the weapons/spells/items in the game.

Those floating creatures you find in the palace trial stage? The one before the Michizane’s fight.

Those that spin?

I killed a lot of them and got nothing.

And is that the only way of stretching your gauge?

Yes I have been very direct in the way I played the game so far…

Hm… I don’t remember where they are in the later stages of the game, but there’s one on the very first stage (to the left of the starting point), and there’s one just beyond the breakable walls guarded by the Lionette statues in the “None shall pass!!!” level.

edit: And just so you get a handle on how much stuff you’re missing, there are 33 different weapons in the game. How many do you have?

5 minutes or so after my last post I finished the game.

And I started to play a new game (not 2nd play mode).

MAN!!I’ve missed so much.I mean with the power I accumulated so far (I have just beaten the Soul Reaver girl) I’m a demigod.

So you gotta get them Mercy Orbs!I never killed those stone guys before going to the palace.

I must ahve killed one and that’s how I had three mercy orbs…

The weapons:well I had about 18 weapons or so :stuck_out_tongue:

Man…

Btw, noticed your name in the credits! I don’t recall knowing about your involvement on this…

Then agehn this might already have been mentioned round here…

Hahahaha… Are you sure it’s my name?

Your name is Abadd right?

That’s what I was programmed to believe.

Hey you actually survived to Teh Trial!
Congrats, you didn’t point out my sarcasm in that post.

You got a strange last name…

But hey what can I say, mine’s Felgueiras

See, sarcasm in context of a full conversation is easy to understand, which brings me back to my point: it takes more than just a line of straight text to understand what the poster intends.

But nevertheless: yeah, it’s actually a Slavic last name (and a modified one, at that… the original name was changed by my great grandfather because nobody could pronounce it).

I’m afraid mine is just a name of a city.It was funny to hear it pronounced by that Irish commentator in EuroSport XD
I laughed my arse off…

If you are wondering why,it’s cause my sis went to the Olympics
And yes I’m proud  :stuck_out_tongue:

So what does Abadd mean in Slavic anyways?

It means, “Venustraphobia.”

abadd, i don’t know anything about you other than:

  1. in one topic you said that you wouldn’t reveal what you did

  2. in this topic i see hints that you worked on otogi in some way

  3. abadd was a great character in PDO and you chose him as your avatar and name so you must have good taste in those things

EDIT- i forgot my point:

so yeah, i really liked otogi (a chilled moon should go down in videogame history as one of the most badass battles ever (assuming you didn’t level up ridiculously)). it is the only game i have ever encountered where i thought the english voice acting was better than the japanese voice acting. so uh… do you think there is any hope of otogi 2 coming to the US?

Gehn only assumes that my name is in the credits. I never acknowledged that they were

why so mysterious? o_o

hey, what’s your favorite weapon in otogi? mine is… the black swallows, or the twins rays/flashes, or… indigo fang (for smashing). and genbu 3 pwns the universe.

Moonlight Sword. By far.

If you’ve gotten it, you’ll know why

(And being mysterious is just so cooool  )

Yep it’s your way to feel important :P…

My fav weapon from the ones i know :frowning: ] is either

Sword of Binding
Locust Wing
Chimera Staff

Btw Abadd you are saying that the you like the Sword of Moonlight? You mean th e one in the Sun/Moon duo?I still dunno what those swords do…

Or is it one of the bonus ones?
