The Sega Saturn

Shining wisdom? bah - the only crapper shining game is Soul. Still i have to agree with stha and sf3, stha is my fav game on the saturn i must have played it from beginning about 6 times now.

oh, man stha was excellent…it repeating it’s self from the last save point annoyed me, but then I just went mental with leveling and perfecting my characters:P ah, took me a while to get the weapon for rodi and akane to give the that crital strike move, but it was worth it^^ and the red dagger, that rocks wayyyyy more than the slash dagger. SF3 I still haven’t completed yet and Shining Wisdom just annoyed me like hell so I went mental and got to Pazort at the end and got stuck so I gave up:P.

Maybe my dream of a complete English Shining Force 3 compilation will come true one day. But of course the chances of that happening are less than the chances of me learning Japanese some day.

lol, yeah, the chances are VERY small…unless you paid them…or went over there and helped them do it maybe! I dunno, but it might just be worth it.

Guardian Heroes and Dragon Force are two of the best games available for the Saturn [/quote]

I read through this topic waiting to see a post like that. A surprisingly low number of you guys actually listed those two gems. Those are my favorite Saturn games (Hell, favorite video games of all time) after PD Saga.
Then again, I thought NiGHTS was crap.
Don’t get me started on all the trouble SFIII put me through.
It’s nice to see some of you went through the trouble of getting Radiant Silvergun, too. Talk about an epic game…

  1. Be Praying
  2. Be Praying
  3. Be Praying

I love Guardian Heroes too, although I prefer Gunstar Heroes on the MegaDrive.
Unfortunately I never got to play Dragon Force.

I never got to play dragon force either damn it! I shall some day though…some day…and nights was not crap, tonnes of people like it, it’s cool, just cos the story line makes hardly any sense and confuses a lot of people doesn’t make it crap:P

Nights was amazing, I don’t think the story made no sense…I don’t really remember it now but back when I was playing it I don’t remember being confused about it…

Berserker, where did I say I didn’t like NiGHTS because of its story?

I don’t like NiGHTS because it is an overglorified side-scroller whose gameplay consists of going in a loop and picking up lots of a certain type of item.
It just doesn’t appeal to me.

I know, I never said you didn’t like they story, I was saying that it didn’t make complete sense, it did make sense but I felt they were missing something in it to complete the story…dunno what…ah, well, well everyone has their own opinions I guess

It’s a pity I bought so few games back in the day…

You want a classic?I’ll give you one : FIGHTERS MEGAMIX.

Countless hours playing it.I always liked the songs Am2 came up with so that 2 was good in it.The scenarios, the fighters,Ura Bahn (bows) and the credits art…

Oh and of course ,the gameplay…

The NiGHTS story made complete sense to me and the ending when you’d completed it with both characters was great.

Maybe the reason NiGHTS isn’t liked in some cases is that it could be classed as limited and short but as it has always been said, NiGHTS is about trying to attain THAT high score. Like a racing game…except more pleasant. Also the musical evolution and the A-life top off the experience. Maybe I’m just being sentimental (It was my last Saturn game Xmas present) but I love NiGHTS.

Don’t forget Christmas NiGHTS!!

One thing that annoys me though is that Yuji Naka knows there is a big group of NiGHTS fans who would kill for a new game but he just refuses to make one. He just teases us with glimses in Billy Hatcher, Sonic Adventure and Sonic Pinball Party. GaH!!

NiGHTS is really the only game I can think of that is true art.

Art.You don’t even know what art is.What’s art Shadow?

oh, no not one of these stupid questions…like what is a book:P Fighters megamix…man, that took me hardly anytime, just repeated the same combination of moves over and over:P so easy that game, so easy…

Webster defines art as:
The conscious use of skill and creative imagination especially in the production of aesthetic objects; also : works so produced.

But of course, we know that Webster is a bunch of neat sounding bullshit.
NiGHTS though was a really good game…can’t find my Christmas one tho. Damn, and holiday seasons coming up…

Ah yes, Fighters Megamix. Now, I’m not a fan of fighting games by any stretch, but I looooooved Megamix. I mean, you get to play as a car! How cool is that!?

I thought Megamix was a great game with crap graphics. Mind you, I won my copy in a competition and I have a sneaking suspicion it’s a pre-release version.

true, the car was cool^^ still, it was all a little to easy for me…crap graphics indeed compared to stuff like SF3 and PDS.

I don’t understand why AM2 didn’t use high res’ graphics like they did in VF2.

If I remember correctly, they used low res’ so that they could incorporate additional graphical effects like lighting but even those were unimpressive and barely noticeable. I’d be happier with high res’ and no lighting tbh.

The car from Daytona (was it the Hornet?) was a cool addition but it was shite when it came to combat lol

I think I remember the palm tree from AM2’s logo as a playable fighter too, again a nice addition but equally shite

Did anyone manage to play that pair-up-the-pics mini game? By completing each game consecutively you’d be rewarded with a pic of Janet from VC2, but with less clothing each time. I was honestly expecting her to get her boobs out for the last pic but alas it wasn’t to be :frowning:
