(That Synbios guy doesn’t say one bleedin’ word in the whole game!)
He does actually. If you play the other scenarios, actual text replaces what were only dots before when you play the role of his character. When you play as Medion in scenario 2, it is he who says nothing when encountering Synbios. This was done for the sake of leaving what they say to your imagination.
And yes, the complete Shining Force 3 (all three scenarios combined) took the Shining series to the next level in stylish fashion.
I thought he was either a very shy character or he was mute lol
Come to think of it, Synbios does actually speak in SFIII: when it’s his turn to attack during a battle he says things when he performs a particular move!
Like you Geoff’, I’m really hoping for SEGA to release all 3 scenarios as a fully translated set. SEGA has been busy releasing old classics through it’s SEGA Ages brand recently (not to mention Sonic and his Mega Collections) and I’m praying they will finally acknowledge SF as a worthy candidate. People need to play this game as originally intended i.e. as a complete set.
SF Mega Collection anyone?[/quote]
You wouldn’t believe the number of times I’ve discussed this issue. Apparently since Camelot developed the series, Sega would have to contest ownership of the trilogy or something. Other factors include Sega not wanting to translate a really old game into English even though Shining Force 4 is nearing completion. How non-Japanese fans can play SF4 when they haven’t even played SF3 is beyond me.
Sonic Co/Team Sonic was an in-house Sega development team until it grew into what we now know as Camelot, if I am not mistaken. I am told that many former members of Sonic Co now work for Overworks and AM2. I’d really love to confirm this information, as it proves that Sega funded and developed the creation of one of the best TRPG series in recent history.
Sega did play a huge role in the creation of the series.
Now that Sega is developing Shining Force 4 (Sega owns the rights), not Camelot, we’ll see first hand just what Sega is capable of. And of course, SF4 will be a PS2 exclusive (because irony would have it no other way), which will guarantee sales far and wide.
I resent Camelot. Words simply fail me. Sega has a lot to answer for as well (I can even place blame on Sony fandom but that isn’t where it belongs). For now, I am content with the SF3 fan translations. All three SF3 scenarios make for a great intertwining adventure. Scenario 1 alone is not Shining Force 3.
