Proof PDO should have been on Cube!
I never said it’s a hack and slash IN THE STYLE OF OTOGI, in fact I clearly stated it’s DIFFERENT! However, all the game is about is killing enemies gaining experience points casting spells and finding better items and what not. It’s game mechanics are closer to Diablo2 if anything, except with much more linear levels and an action control scheme instead of point and click stuff like in D2. It’s not an RPG at all. And it’s not like Zelda at all. Experience points and spells and what not are NOT what makes an RPG. FF:CG is a hack and slash game more than anything else period.

And like Abadd says, what’s the point of this? Am I supposed to be convinced that the X-Box is the better choice of all three consoles because the Gamecube doesn’t have a hack and slash game like Ninja Gaiden? The X-Box also has nothin that is like Metroid for example (no, Halo and any other FPS are nothing like it at all) or anything like Super Monkey Ball or anything like Skies of Arcadia, or anything like Zelda or anything like Pikmin etc etc etc…
:). Oh good come back . Apart from the hack and slash points ;). You do your fair share of hack and slash in PSO II, but I’ll never count that game as anything other than a multi player RPG. But we’re enever going to agree on this subject

Yes so the X-Box is found wanting for Jp RPG’s (well it hasn’t any), it has no answer to Monkey Ball. And apart from the Saturn no other console has an answer to PRIME (Exhumed is better though).

All fair points, but then the CUBE doesn’t have any answers to Riddick, Full Spectrum Warrior, Steel Battalion, Moto Gp II, JSRF, NG, PGR II, Gun Valkyrie, TOCA II, LIVE play ect ect ect… :stuck_out_tongue:

Well the problem is that the X-Box doesn’t have almost anything that screams CLASSIC to me. It doesn’t have anything of the caliber of Zelda or something as quirky and fun as Pikmin or something different like Eternal Darkness etc… Some of those games on the Cube DO scream CLASSIC…

For the record Full Spectrum Warrior’s PC version is nearly finished (can’t wait for it) and I’m sure a couple of the other titles you mentioned are on the PC as well (maybe I’m wrong).
I’m not a racing fun so I can’t mention any GC racing games (not even sure how good the ones you mentioned are) but I’m sure it has atleast a few, there’s no console that’s never gotten racing games heh… Maybe someone else can name a few. And then there’s the PS2 with quite a few racing games with the biggest of all propably being Gran Tourismo 3.
And to mention that I preffered Jet Set Radio on the DC than JSRF on the X-Box but I supposed that’s besides the point…

You’ll notice I mentioned PS2 games above but I felt I could do that since I’m not here to say the Cube is the best, just defending my opinion on how I believe that the X-Box is the most lacking, mind you as I said in my first post here, I am NOT going to buy ANY console because none of them has enough games that scream CLASSIC to me.
And then I went on to say that IMO the Cube has the most and the X-Box the least. And apparently seeing Mumei’s and Solo’s replies I’m not the only one that thinks that (atleast for the X-Box, I don’t know if they are fond of the Cube as well). I have yet to see any EXCLUSSIVE games of the caliber I’m expecting apart from PERHAPS Chronicles of Riddick (I haven’t played it I just know everyone says it’s amazing) and maybe a couple more I can’t think of now. Exclusive titles that is, not on PC as well since I won’t buy an X-Box to play Halo & KOTOR (And soon Full Spectrum Warrior) when I can buy just the games for my PC. I really don’t see that game that’s gonna grab me by the balls into buying the console. The Saturn had the Panzer Dragoon and the Shining Force series, the Gamecube has Zelda and Metroid, the X-box has…? It has nothin as “big” in my opinion, it certainly has some GREAT games but, you know, I can do without those and if I bought a Cube for example I’d find other great games on it as well as “fillers” inbetween games like Metroid and Zelda (and their upcoming sequels) Maybe not the exact same type as on the X-Box but great games nonetheless. They wouldn’t be what I bought the console for anyway, they’d just be fun time killing until the next CLASSIC (or sequel of one) arrived.
I’d certainly enjoy a lot of the games you have mentioned on the X-Box but I’d be left wanting that CLASSIC that doesn’t exist…(.yet atleast)…

OK fair enought

I only have a GCN, but I want a PS2… I want Star Ocean 3 when it comes out.

If anything, Panzer Dragoon is more like Star Wars than Star Fox.

They both may be forward scrolling shooters, but Panzer Dragoon gives you the challenge of taking on enemies on all sides and has various elements that give it more depth than Star Fox. There are themes of war and of bioengineering, and Panzer Dragoon has its own history and mysteries that people to this day are still arguing about. Star Fox is just a fun shooter in a cartoon universe. One of my favorite shooters like Panzer Dragoon. But there’s nothing more there than what you see.

And I disagree with all the stereotypes people give certain systems. It’s all about the games.

X Box may not have a mascot or quirk game that stands out like Nintendo has with Zelda or Animal Crossing, but Knights of the Old Republic screams classic enough for me.

And I can name quite a few quality PS2 games.

Gran Turismo 3
Devil May Cry
Fatal Frame 2
Gitaroo Man
Skygunner
Metal Gear Solid 2

To name just a few.

I didn’t stereotype at all, I gave MY opinion and I based it on the games. K?
Also, I never said Starfox is like Panzer Dragoon. It’s just it’s something big and you always expect from Nintendo to come up with a new one and you look forward to it. And I’m pretty sure you understood what I meant, else you’d be telling me how “Zelda is not like Shining Force and Metroid isn’t like the PD series at all” lol. They clearly aren’t but that wasn’t the point of the post.
And if ya read my previous post more carefully you’d see how I have no reason to get the X-Box for KOTOR. It’s on the PC after all (and doesn’t have as high reqs as other new-ish PC games so most ppl can get it) unlike Zelda and Metroid and others… In fact I specifically said “I won’t buy an X-Box to play Halo & KOTOR (And soon Full Spectrum Warrior) when I can buy just the games for my PC.” so unless you have anything to counter that don’t go back to telling me that KOTOR is a reason to own an X-Box. For me and many many others it’s not.

Why do you keep bring this PC rubbish again and again Because No console can ever compete to the PC when it comes to screen resolution , and stuff like RAM.

Hell A PC graphics card alone cost more to buy than the X-Box console itself.

The big diff is people who bought a X-Bo over 2 years ago, can still play the latest X-Box games. If you got your PC over 2 years ago. It would have problems running today games, wih out some sort of up grade.

It just not a fair comparison.

Plus I?m a big TV and Sofa man myself. And the PC does not have ORTA . There that?s more than a good enough reason to buy a X-Box. And LIVE play is much better than Online gaming on the PC

Hello? You said “Ok, Fair enough” meaning you accept MY OPINION ON THE SUBJECT. Did I say NOONE HAS A REASON TO BUY AN X-BOX or THE X-BOX SUCKS or ANYTHING of the sort and that offended you or what? Or did this guy now give ME such a good reason to get the X-Box even tho he said nothin you haven’t said so you felt you had to defend that?

And why shoudn’t I bring up the PC? All this argument started with mainly ME (not the whole world, only ME) and you and all I said was that FOR ME, the X-Box is LACKING and it IS. I DO have a PC and I DO upgrade every few years and SINCE I DO THAT the X-Box has NOTHING for me cos most of it’s good games I’d care for are on the PC as well and I can own them on my PC. So why the hell can’t I bring it up?! Should I go out and buy an X-Box and KOTOR and FWS and Halo when I can buy the games and play them on my PC? Would that make you happy or something? What the hell is your point. And when did I say anything about resolution and crap, I never even brought up the graphics issue AT ALL and I never even compared PC games with X-Box games or anything of the sort, you just started doing that in fact, where the hell did all this come from?!

Orta if FAR from reason enough to get an X-Box, if it was I’d have one. No matter how much I love the series Orta just doesn’t cut it as a system seller. If it was a new Saga then maybe I’d agree on that with you. But to me it’s not even a new Zwei >_>

And since you had to compare and start a pointless PC vs X-Box argument when this was NEVER the case until now:
I don’t find online play on PCs to lack anything compared to X-Box Live. In fact the range of games available alone propably makes up for any withdrawings it might have by far. And it all depends on how you do it anyway. I’ve never had a problem finding servers with players that use headsets for my favorite games (And I tell ya even if I play them with ppl without headsets it doesn’t detract from the fun almost at all anyway) while some ppl have said “X-Box live is better cos everyone with this and that game has a headset cos it comes with the game” for example.
Plus since the most fun games for online play are RTS and FPS games (or hybrids of those) I find them much more satisfying with the use of mouse and keyboard than any gamepad.
And let’s not forget this: You might buy for example your Unreal Championship 1 or 2 (upcoming) for the X-Box and enjoy it’s Live play BUT I’ll just get Unreal Tournament 2004 for PC, enjoy just as good (IMO) Online Play, and also have the ability to download TOP CLASS fanmade Mods like Alien Swarm, Troopers, Shattered Oasis, Clone Bandits, and a shit load more. Hell I bought Half Life 5+ Years ago and they are STILL churning out new content (not shitty things like a couple new weapons, but again full modifications that are basically different games on their own right) WORTHY OF PLAYING even tho it’s such an old game so basically one game lasted as long as your X-Box will be LUCKY to last with ALL of it’s games before it’s “sequel” comes out (ie X-Box2). And let’s not forget that even games like Halo got extra features for the PC version (Weapons and levels and vehivles and what not) and even a new update for Halo called Halo CE which adds new graphical features and a full SDK so you can expect even more extra content for it if you own a PC (or create your own if you are into that stuff, let’s not forget that aspect of modding on the PC)
Like I said, this X-Box (or any console) vs PC argument just doesn’t cut it and I’m not the one who started it

Anyway, the meat of this post is the first two paragraphs, feel free to ignore the rest. And I’m not upset in the least, I just thought I’d post my “rubbish” in the same tone you wrote yours. Just without any direct insulting cos it’s not like me to do that

Yeah sorry it was somebody else that brought up the screeen Res thing. Sorry mate (my mistake).

With LIVE it’s no so much the head set, more to dowith the fact it’smuch easier to join up with you mates ect online. Thanks to the freinds system. Plus you don’t find so many cheaters on LIVE.

ORTA and all Smilebit games are reasons to buy a X-Box imo:). All the console now have games that make it worth buying the consoles for.

Monkey Ball/CUBE

ICO/PS2

ORTA/X-Box.

BTW the fact that you seem to be buying most PC X-Box ports seems to show that the X-Box does have games worth getting the sytem for. To that of the other consoles.

I said I CAN buy them not that I WILL or HAVE bought them. I specifically said I do NOT own Halo. I guess I’ll let you know I don’t own KOTOR either. If I had enough time for an RPG at the moment I’d get either Baldur’s Gate or it’s sequel. And for what a lot of people call the best X-Box Live shooter (ie rainbow six: whatever) it’s PC counterpart existed months before anyway.
I only said I’ll propably buy FSW cos I’m into that type of game however there’s other very worthy choices as well. In fact right now I’m leaning toward Ground Control II more, it’s a more traditional RTS game but it’s still all about combat tactics rather than base building and has some very interesting features never before seen in these games.
And yes, all consoles have worthy games.
For me, as I said before, the Cube has the most and the X-Box the least though. Partly because I have a PC and partly because microsoft doesn’t have anything of the caliber of Zelda and the like. What other smilebit games are on the X-Box? Rez? I have that on my Dreamcast. Unless Otogi is by smilebit too. I’m not into that kind of games that much anyway (don’t think it has a port either) >_> So I’d rather buy a Cube  But, again, none of them have enough classics for me so I’m not buying anything. I’d rather buy a new part for my PC. I can get great games and the occasional classic on my PC so I won’t buy a console for just a couple more classics and then just other “great games”. Though I must admit the gamecube will be VERY tempting after the release of the Zelda and Metroid sequels and that other Japanese RPG (I forget it’s name, it was very weird) So who knows maybe eventually I’ll get one. Or even a PS2 if the new Shining Force is worth it.

Like my Lusitan ancesters would say “Shutoo da fuckoo upoo”

“Bothoo of eeooo!!!”

If you don’t like it stay out of it Gehn. Noone forces you to read the boards and rarely does anyone say anything about your spamming anymore (cos by now it would be spam on itself to have “gehn, that was off topic, quit that” after every few posts) however it’s a bit overkill for you to tell people to shut up, especially when we aren’t that off topic but having an argument that came naturally from the course of the discussion. Feel free to not read or reply to my posts again, just don’t think you have any right to tell me or anyone else here to shut up. Cos you just don’t.

I wonder why Nightshade sold so few copies despite the presence of such a provocative female lead character?

Ultimately, no Sega fan will be content with just one of the three leading consoles, especially if Sega continues to develop exclusive titles for each as opposed to adopting a multi-platform approach towards as many of its games as possible.

I’m tempted to take a vacation from the current console war since there’s no way in hell I’m buying every console on the market just to play every game Sega (or anyone for that matter) has to offer.

Btw, Silent Hill 2 and 3 are both available for the PC just like Halo and Knights of the Old Republic, which are two less reasons to own a Playstation 2. What difference does that make Alex? The Xbox still has its fair share of unique games. Doom III is being enhanced for the Xbox for example, and the ageing Playstation 2 hardware struggles to emulate the graphical beauty of even the simplest of multi-platform titles (such as Splinter Cell). So much for being the most powerful console in the universe. I was saddened to learn that even Virtua Fighter 4 was downgraded for the Playstation 2… when an Xbox conversion could’ve been arcade perfect. The only reason I’m considering buying a Playstation 2 is because Sega insists on supporting it.

When did I say SH2 and 3 are a reason for me to buy a PS2 in order to bring that up Geoffrey? Why bring it up like that? Obviously for me it’s not, I don’t love those games anyway, I only really like the first game. On the PS2 I’d mainly want VF4: Evolution and ICO really. Maybe a couple more games I’m forgetting. And obviously Shining Force whenever it’s released.

And I wouldn’t call SC the “simplest multiplatform title” at all since it did introduce/advance a few techs and is one of the more polished games visually. And the PS2 handled quite good imo but that’s besides the point (was there a point to this anyway?)

And when did I say the X-Box doesn’t have it’s own unique games? I stated every console does. I stated I’d enjoy a lot of the games TA mentioned. But there’s also great games on all other consoles so, again, why would I chose the X-Box and not the Cube that has those “standard” great games but also gets things of bigger impact like Zelda and Metroid. The X-Box relies heavily on third party and/or multiplatform titles that you never know if there will be a sequel or if that sequel is going to be on X-Box or if that title will remain X-Box only or move to the PC and/or other consoles as well. The PS2 does that too but it also has MUCH bigger deveoper support so it gets the edge in that as well IMO. Sure it doesn’t get a lot of games the X-Box does but when I can get those (or even similar/better ones) on my PC why would I care?
Doom III is a non issue for me either, if I get it I’ll get the PC version. I’m more looking forward to games like Half Life 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines though.

Listen Seitaridis, last time I heard this was a free communitty.

I forgot to mention that the GameCube is home to a majority percentage of “younger gamers”. That’s a fact. Nintendo tried to dispel this by securing the exclusivity of the Resident Evil series, but this hasn’t helped its cause. Suffice to say there was a reason why Sega chose to develop Panzer Dragoon Orta for the Xbox. In the future, Sega will almost certainly rally its support around the most popular console on the market regardless of what console that happens to be, which at least gives homeless Sega fans a place to go. The safest option for Sega is the console with the largest installed userbase, as always, which isn’t the GameCube…

All I’m saying is the Playstation 2 doesn’t deserve to be the most popular console on the market. Enhanced versions of some of its best games can be found on other platforms too (Rainbow 6, Splinter Cell, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3 etc), so it isn’t immune from criticism in that department (why tolerate a downgraded multi-platform title like Sonic Heroes at all when a graphically superior version is available for the other leading consoles?). Also, some multi-platform titles are developed with the Playstation 2 in mind first (such as Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance) and then ported to other consoles, which means that these games are shackled to the graphical limitations of the Playstation 2 more often than not.

Shall I go on? You wouldn’t believe some of the things certain people at Capcom have said about Sony and its vaunted Playstation 2…

As much as I despise Sony, Sega has no choice but to support the Playstation 2. I can live with that if it means Sega survives, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. Many gamers need to think before they start showering the Playstation 2 with endless praise.

You told me to shut the fuck up… And now you bring the “free community” point to reinforce that thinking? Way to go Gehn.

Geoffrey when exactly did I praise the PS2? I said a fact. It’s got hugely more developer support than other consoles. Nothin else. I didn’t praise at all.

The point of multiplatform titles even if they are “downgraded” is more sales. Duh. Not “Omg our game will have to have lower res here and there. let’s not port it over it’s gonna be ruined!” or something.

The Gamecube does have more “kiddie” games. So what? I don’t see how that puts it down in any way or is a point against it in any way. You keep bringing it up and I still don’t see your point. It’s also got a lot of great games that can appeal to the mature audience. So who the hell cares if the console has pokemon when it also has zelda and metroid and resident evil and eternal darkness etc etc? I certainly don’t. I only know that my little brother/cousin/son/whatever everyone has can also have games on it so in fact the kiddie games are a plus, not a minus. At all!

My point is: I can’t understand why Playstation 2 owners tolerate downgraded versions of games developed for the GameCube and/or Xbox. Why settle for anything less than the original game in all its original glory?

The number of children’s games available for the GameCube reflects the dominent age group of its userbase. The theme of Panzer Dragoon Orta was too mature for the majority of GameCube owners (younger gamers, remember?) to appreciate. Sega made the right decision by making it for the Xbox.

I’m wondering how much money Capcom lost compared to what it gained by moving the Resident Evil series onto the GameCube (and I guarantee that Capcom lost money). That move wasn’t motivated by money but because Capcom has no desire to see Sony (with its hatred for all things 2D) monopolise the games industry (the same reason Capcom supported the Dreamcast).

I don’t think developing Panzer Dragoon Orta for the Xbox was motivated by money as much as it was Sega wanting to establish itself on a console competing with Sony’s Playstation 2. It’s a shame that Sega’s Xbox games weren’t more successful and that the Xbox didn’t capture a large Japanese audience because in either case Sega would be more tempted to support it.

Who knows? Sega may be keen to support the Xbox 2 just to help it become an even greater success and thereby hinder the Playstation 3…

You told me to shut the fuck up… And now you bring the “free community” point to reinforce that thinking? Way to go Gehn.

America’s a “free country” and criminals are still told to stfu  nodding

Plus I wasn’t adressing you, I was adressing Seitaridis :stuck_out_tongue:
