Proof PDO should have been on Cube!

No, I’d have to say not. I only played at a friends for a few hours… But it wasn’t at all instinctive to me, which is what intuitive means =/. The controls just didn’t “click” for me.

The stupid thing in GV’s control is the fact that you have to constantly JAM the left analog stick.

right, there are some pretty cool ones. although i have yet to find a mainstream killer app that i would consider to be one of the best games. halo was good fun in co-op. i enjoyed 1 play through kotor because of the degree of dialogue decisions, but in retrospect, the game was crap (terrible terrible combat system). NG was pretty cool despite being a pretty uninspired button masher beat 'em up with a little depth.

you still need to learn the controls and how to play the game before you judge such a thing. it seems strange that you couldn’t figure it out with the few hours that you played it; i mean, the controls are not complex at all and there are plenty of places to just sit and practice the controls if needed. i had it basically figured out halfway through the first level. tell me, did you ever achieve mobius state?

was that a pun? >:O

finesse it, man! finesse!

I loved Prime, and while it was too easy and the sailing sucked, I thought TWW was good. Oh and SSBM is great. I can’t really say about X-Box or PS2’s killer apps though.

I’ve never really had that problem in a game =/. No, I didn’t…

No, it wasn’t a pun ^_^.
i was not telling bomberman to leave the forums. i only wanted to point out that one of their first posts here at twota was essentially a gamecube is better than xbox thread. this is corroborated by their laughable view of the console as well as of the console owners (i also firmly disagree with their view that PD is similar to starfox- perhaps in appearance but the further experience is completely different). anyway, this is a topic for the liberal or holy district wrapped in the guise of a legitimate seeker stronghold subject.

so all i meant in my first statement was that bomberman’s time might be better spent arguing consoles in either the liberal or holy districts- but in truth i would suggest an entirely different forum for that type of discussion.
I wasn’t trying to do that,a tleast consicously. Anyway I agree that Starfox and Panzer Dragoon are very different but initially they seem similar and thats what will sell it the initial reaction. Somebodies playing a PDO demo and will say “cool i’m flyin and shootin stuff like in SF” and after they buy the game and play it for a while they realize tha PD is very much a cinematic expeirence mixed with agming and not just a game.

There’s Ninja Gadian which I wouldn’t mind trying, but apart from Smilebit’s games I can’t actually think of anything else off the top of my head. Since I have a PC that is capable of running a lot of the Xbox’s games at a higher resolution I’m starting to wonder what the point in getting games for a system that won’t nessarcerily be around for that long anyway (if the rumours that Xbox 2 won’t be backwardly compatible are true). PC games are usually cheaper too.
Wellif you think like that, why bother with any Console ?.

Because consoles definitely have their merits and are better in some respects.

Well why moan about the X-Box then, becasue whin it comes to High Res graphics, and cheap games the PC will always have the advantage.

Plus you never find games like NG, Orta, JSRF, DOA III, BLiNX on a PC

The best selling games for it are games like Halo that are anything but niche. Just because it has a few games that are more niche does not mean that it is the less mainstream one.

I don’t know what you mean by niche.

Basically, RPG’s were once a niche market; very few people played them or even knew about them, at least in the States. They didn’t become mainstream until later on.

I don’w want niche games. My favourite games are Adventure games and RPG games. Both very popular.I just want ORIGINAL games.

XBox has that alot more than say - the evil enemie at stake here anyways :stuck_out_tongue: - PS2.

The GC has alot more original games than the PS2 too.

Well of course PS2 has more of the less original games on it; so many people have it that developers think that they can get away with releasing a crappy game… Doesn’t mean that PS2 doesn’t have good games, because it has a ton of good games… But it has more crappy, unoriginal games as well T_T.

I have yet to play a PS2 game I really like.

You must have strange tastes then… Either that, or you refuse to like a game that doesn’t have something incredibly unique about it =/. Besides that, I thought you said you liked Ico. And don’t you like the Legacy of Kain series?

I should probably rephrase my statement - is it really worth getting a system for only a few exclusive games, when most of the games worth getting on the system are already on other systems? To me, it feels like the Xbox is just a stripped down PC with not a lot of exclusive games for gamers who already have a PC that is capable of running these games.

The Xbox started off well, and there have been some great games for it. But not many of them are still exclusives. Panzer Dragoon Orta, JSRF - great games, but I can’t think of many of them. As opposed to, say, the Dreamcast’s lineup when it was still alive, which was an awesome lineup of games IMO. I would have thought that with Microsoft’s huge bank balance it could have arranged for more games to stay Xbox only, but maybe I’m just not aware of some of the great exclusive games out there?

Well if you don’t include PC, then X-Box has quite a few more Triple-A Exclusives… But I have a very good PC, so there aren’t nearly as many X-Box games that would interest me… Either the genre isn’t interesting or I can get it for my PC. Of course there are still a few games that make me want an X-Box… I hope Tim Schafer’s Psychonauts is still coming out… I really want that ;_;.

I don’t refuse to like a game without something unique to it.I just don’t.

Something has to catch my eye.I played 10 minute of Ico on my friend’s house and I thought it was very original.Legacy of Kain is not a PS2 game (not an exclusive).

In fact I played them all on PC so far.Apart from Defiance whihc I got for my XBox.

There’s plenty of X-Box only games, there’s stuff like BLiNX 1/II, Out Run II, HOTD III, SEGA GT, Rallisport II, FSW, Galleon, Riddick, O.TO GI 1/II, Ninja Gaiden, DOA XVB, Top Spin, Halo 1/II, Fable, BC, Conkers, Kameo, Moto GP 1/II, PGR 1/II to name but a few.

And before you start and say stuff like Halo is also on the PC, well stuff like the Final Fanstasy games, Tomb Radier, Pro Evo were also out on he PC, but people always took them as PS exclusives.

Like Solo said, only a handful (or even less) of those exclusive games you mentioned are games that you would buy a console for since there’s equivalents (or even better) on all other systems. Or just cos they are “filler games” in a sense…
Also, so long after the consoles’ release it says a lot that you feel the need to mention unreleased games as the X-box’s strength (Fable, BC and Halo 2 for instance)
And by the way Tomb Raider 1 was also on the Saturn >_>
