close one.

what is the title I haven’t watched it yet

I dunno, done properly, a high budget Japanese animated movie could be awesome. It’d probably have to be a new story though.

That brings a interesting question. Why they did make a panzer anime and why it sucked?

The PD games are always very well made projects by teams of developers who obviously cared about the outcome. So why they give the duty to make a OVA to a not-very-competent-studio who made a subpar story?

There will always be one little turd out there who will say “Final Fantasy” did it first, and that will cause a whole wash of fanboys to say the same thing.

Final Flight of the Osiris was meant as a short film. That quality of image over a long time would probably require far too much time and money to be worth the bother, in terms of profit.

Yeah, a movie sounds good. It would have to be real actors and actresses playing the parts, as the OVA movie apparently was rubbish. Maybe it would make more people interested in panzer dragoon.

i’m thinking that it may have been back in the day when sega owned the rights to everything rather than the creators. think about how many non-sonic team games were made on the genesis and saturn. there were a couple sonic games on the saturn; none of which were by sonic team.

so it could have been that after TA turned down the idea in a corporate meeting, the businessmen took everyone out to party and made sure to get each TA member get totally wasted. then in the morning pretend like they said it was ok to do the PD anime :frowning:

i actually haven’t seen it, but i own the sonic anime XD :frowning:

I think you’re slightly confused there. Yes, these games were not made by the Sonic Team as far as Yuji Naka was not the head of the production team, but at some point during the project, Naka was asked for permission to use Sonic, since he owns the all-encompassing rights on the character.

The statement about none of the Sonic games on the Saturn being made by Sonic Team is false. Sonic Jam was produced by Sonic Team, as far as I know. The concept art and designs for Sonic R was created by Sonic Team, even though the eventual programming was done by Traveller’s Tales. Sonic 3D Blast was Traveller’s Tales as well, I think, and I’m not sure how much input Sonic Team had into that game.

A PD movie (as long as it doesn’t suck) would be incredibly awesome. Wasn’t there an article somewhere on Gamespot about Steven Speilburg saying how great Panzer Dragoon Ein was?

It is probably possible to find an article on Gamespot about how Klingons sued Bill Gates for having an .exe file deep in Windows ME that translates from Klingon as meaning “Klingons are morons”.

I think that a Panzer movie, done properly, and with an origonal story that doesn’t contradict the plots of the games could actually be quite good. TA created a brilliant sci-fi world and I see no reason why it wouldn’t work to do, say, a movie about the war between the Empire and Meccania (just an example). The only problem is, as some people already pointed out, hollywood would NEVER do it that way, they would simply try and make a cash-in. An anime could be quite good, if they got someone who ACTUALLY KNEW THE PLOT to make it.

XD Too true!
But gasp! I found it.

"As work on Panzer Dragoon progressed, Andromeda’s attention to detail was recognized by director Steven Spielberg, who approached the team shortly after the game’s debut at E3 and let them know he was impressed by what he saw."

…I can dream.

The plot can be right in front of the creator’s face and they’ll still mess it up. Look at the House of the Dead movie…there isn’t a house in it, is there? It’s set on an island!

As for Spielburg…well, courting controversy has always been my style, so I’m going to say that even if he did make a Panzer movie, it could still be a turd. I’d prefer George Lucas, to be honest. Panzer Dragoon is fairly similar to Star Wars: complex history, evil empire, excellent supporting villains and heroes… It could work.

Let’s start a donation campaign to buy an entire PD collection to Mr. Spielberg, all accompanied by a very polite card asking for a trilogy.

I don’t think it’s a good idea. Did you watched the two movies he made for the new trilogy? O_o

what!? naka allowed for the abominations that were sonic 3D blast, sonic spinball, and sonic R!? i never would have thought it was him that was at fault…

not enough.

have you SEEN the new star wars movies? :frowning:

i think charlie kaufman or paul thomas anderson would make strange, strange movies out of the PD stories…

Sonic Spinball and Sonic R OWNED. Sonic R in particular was amazing. I’d like to know what problems you had with it.

And yes, I have seen the new Star Wars movies. I thought they were alright, although I had some issues with the pacing in Attack of the Clones.

ok sonic R wasn’t THAT bad

i’m not a fan of euro-pop so i usually played with music off or low. it had some technical difficulties like the 6 feet of visibility infront of you. i didn’t like loop de loops cause if i needed to move, i’d usually end up screwing it up hardcore. the characters were very unbalanced and i only liked a couple of the levels. i will say that the 2-player tag mode was great, and it was fun to run through single player and challenge all the rivals. i also liked metal sonic and mecha knuckles being in the game. it just didn’t feel very sonic-y, i expected it to be about going into “roll-mode” wherever you could, but that maneuver was pretty much useless :frowning:

hey, if you still play it, i found this huge shortcut with mecha knuckles on the radiant emerald level. you know the part where the track turns almost sideways and goes into a large loop? jump and glide there and you can cut 15-20 seconds off by gliding to this part of the track that you go under after the long turn.

also, i got a lap time of 10.71 on resort island (yes, just over 10 seconds) with supersonic. see if you can get that too

Sonic Spinball was shit. The latest Star Wars films aren’t good enough. And Peter Jackson is the only man I would trust with the Panzer Dragoon name.

Games don’t make good movies.

The Pazner Dragoon movies are far better than films. If it were to be made in to a film. It would have to be made by a French director
