Awesome.
Awesome.
That’s news to me. I must get both.
I just hope that Nights will finally get revenge on Mario. I played Super Mario Galaxy in a game store. Didn’t like it.
The new game looks amazing. I’ll be getting a Wii for it, though I’ll have a few more games to check out, too.
If no other versions/regions are released, I’ll probably (reluctantly) pick up a Japanese PS2 for the NiGHTS remake. Plus, that’ll mean I can get PD.
Although PS2 remakes of Sega classics have had a rather dodgy track record. Grandia II and Defender of the Future anyone?

It seems it’s going to be released in Europe at least.Hurray!
hm, i could never understand the Nights hype even when the game came out for the first time, it’s just not my type of design (or I’m not really into LSD one could say). but this pretty much looks like a port to me.
that they improved the 3d models might have been a necessity. in panzer for example the 3d calculation is not even done in the drawing enginge, allthe saturn does is drawing distorted 2d polygons. maybe Nights and PD shared the same rendering library?
I have to admit that Nights confused me a little when I had a try all those years ago and I only played a few levels, so I?m not someone you can call a Nights fan. Looking at comments and videos the PS2 version is a port with a little polish here and there, no remake.
Nostalgia aside - did Nights age well? Some of the innovations that made Nights special on the original platform (like coming with the first analog controller for home consoles) can?t really be repeated.
I’d say the original Nights has aged very well and is still fun to play. There was something about its scoring system, its surreal imagery, and its interpretation of the innocence of childhood.
I also learned that the Wii mote will be an optional way of playing the sequel. The standard set up will be either the nunchuk or the classic controller.
Ah well, NiGHTS never had much text/dialogue in it to begin with.
For all of you with region-free PS2s, Nights on the Sony will include Christmas Nights.
Gamespot have just posted their review of Journey of Dreams.
It sounds like the game does have some flaws, but I think that was to be expected. I’ve preordered it nonetheless as it sounds like it’s done a decent job capturing some of the magic of the original. We shall see.
But why oh why did they decide to stuff voice acting into it? The original was brilliant just letting the characters do their thing sans voices. I’ll still get it, though.
its my 21st birthday and i am currently drunkenly reliving the joy of NiGHTS. So my emotions are running high.
I am prepared to buy a Wii for this game if the creators of NiGHTS wish me to. If NiGHTS: JoD is just created for money i will happily play the original for the rest of my life without touching the sequel. opinions please
I’ll let you know once it comes out in New Zealand… on the 26th of January.
I got NiGHTS: JoD. Beat it, unlocked everything.
Overall, I liked it. Make sure to take off the nostalgia goggles before playing it though.
The only real gripes I have are the cinemas (which are skippable on subsequent playthroughs, which for some reason are locked at a low framerate), the few dips in fps when playing on certain levels/bosses, and the walking missions. None of these should break your gameplay experience, but when you see the flaws they’re pretty noticable.
Great game! Easily the most fun game for nintendo wii!
Once again, Sonic Team releases their unofficial second mascot against a Super Mario game. Once again, the critics are one-sided in their thinking. Once again, Mario trounces Nights.
Once again, I’m probably bound to prefer Nights over Mario. XD
I tried Super Mario Galaxy. Using the Wiimote to collect the stars and the odd camera angles just flat out bugged the heck outta me.
I think in order to say “It’s not as good as the original” we have to really take a step back, and REALLY look at the original, was it REALLY that great?
Critics weren’t overly enthused with it (Official Sega Magazine aside), and it’s the same with the new one.
Although, I like them both, so if I like a bad game, then fuck me.
Was the original really that great? Yes. Yes it was(IMO). It was the only game Game Revolution thought long and hard to give an A+ but stopped short. Not even PDS did that.
