Favs

Okay, I really don’t remember if this was ever done in these forums but even if it was I still think it’s a good idea to repeat it for more than one reason.

So, pretty simple : post your 5 favourite videogames of all time.If there is more than one game of the same videogameseries in your list just state the series name.

Example : if 2 of my favs were PD games I would just put “PD series” and provide the other 4 names…

So?

FF6 (3)
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Wave race
Morrowind
Resident Evil series

The Panzer Dragoon series
Skies of Arcadia
The Shining Force series
The Sonic the Hedgehog series
Dark Saviour

The Panzer Dragoon series
Final Fantasy 9 (flames welcome)
Super Mario World
Mega Man X
Donkey Kong Country series

Baldur’s Gate II: Shadow’s Of Amn
Sonic The Hedgehog series
Resident Evil series
Shining Force III (Part I)
NiGHTS into Dreams

What are your favs, Gehn?

The Shining series (this series will always remain among my favourites in spite of the fact Sega of America, in its infinite wisdom, denied the world and fans the final two Saturn Shining Force games).

The Panzer Dragoon series (no explanation required).

Skies of Arcadia (Sega should turn this game into a series).

Planescape: Torment (anyone who considers themself to be an RPG fan shouldn’t deprive themself of this wonderful game).

The Baldur’s Gate series (no other series of games has consumed more of my time).

The Panzer Dragoon series (just to shock and amaze you all).

The Legend of Zelda series (providing high quality action-adventure goodness since 1986).
The Super Mario series (the platformers anyway, although I thought the plumber’s GameCube outing was slightly underwhelming).

GoldenEye (which between single and multiplayer I’ve ended up playing more than any other game on the planet, except perhaps PDS).

My “favourite games of all time” are actually hideously unoriginal, which seems a bit wrong considering. A fifth favourite game/series doesn’t immediately spring to mind, but I’ll have a dig through my game collection at some point and try to add something weird and interesting.

And what are your favourites Gehn? You’re keeping us in suspense…

LOK, Myst, Panzer. What more do you need to know about Gehn’s favourites?

But yeah, this is the topic for the best of the best =) I own so many great games. NiGHTS’, Sonics, Panzer Dragoons, Halo, Shenmues, Ghost Recons, Shining Force… MORROWIND. Hmmmm…

  1. Halo… I love the whole story of it. Nothing I’ve played/watched/heard compares, apart from the Lord of the Rings.

  2. Panzer Dragoon series.

  3. Shenmue series. I love the mystery and the whole way the story is going. It’d be a scorn on humanity if the series was never finished.

  4. Morrowind. The history. The scope. The scale. The interaction. The story.

  5. Tomb Raider. A timeless classic. The environments and story rock so hard.

Panzer Dragoon Saga
Mechwarrior 2 (PC)
Dragon Force
Guardian Heroes
Symphony of the Night

NOT in order of preference (except Panzer being first perhaps;)

Panzer Dragoon series - Saturn
Nights Into Dreams - Saturn
Half Life + mods of it like Natural Selection, Day of Defeat, The Specialists etc - PC
Shenmue series (if I can call it that) - Dreamcast
Thief series - PC

Ok these are the five (almost randomly picked in the case of a few of them) I guess, though I couldn’t really chose so I’ll propably be changing mind every 5 mins about it, here is other games I would write if I was allowed to pick more than 5 (again NOT in order of preference):

Silent Hill (the original) - PSOne
Virtua Cop 2 - arcade
Guardian Heroes - Saturn
SNK vs Capcom 2 - arcade
Zelda the Ocarina of Time - N64
Shining Force 3 - Saturn
Grandia - PSOne (cos it was in english for the first time…)
Soul Blade/Calibur/Calibur 2 - wherever they’ve appeared
Skies of Arcadia - wherever it’s appeared
Rez - wherever it’s appeared
Metal Slug series (up to MS3, the rest are by SNK Playmore and aren’t as good as the original SNK’s games) - arcade
Virtua Fighter 2 & 4evo*(or later version)* - wherever they’ve appeared
Final Fantasy Tactics - PSOne
Virtual On 1 & 2 - wherever they’ve appeared
Mario Kart 64 - N64
Sega Rally (the original) - arcade & Saturn
Daytona USA (the original) - arcade
Tekken 3 - wherever it’s appeared
Resident Evil 1, 3 & Code Veronica - wherever they’ve appeared

If I exclude a version of a game it’s cos I have a dislike over it for some reason/a preference over the versions I mention for some reason or even just cos I’m not certain of other versions’ existence/quality

Anyway these are just off the top of my head, there’s tons more and I’ll be changing my mind over these for sure too

In no particular order:

Panzer Dragoon Saga (if it wasn’t, I wouldn’t be here)

Phantasy Star II (mostly old nostalgia value because it doesn’t age well)

Shadow Hearts (very good pre-World War I RPG–gotta give points for innovation and overall creepiness)

Lunar: The Silver Star (my first game with voice acting and in my opinion loads better than the Playstation remake)

Skies of Arcadia (the most uplifting game I ever played)

Not in any particular order…

Panzer Dragoon (The whole series altogerher. Enough Said. =) )

Final Fantasy 6 ( Any person who loves RPG owe themselves to play this one, a excellent empire, an honest to goodness insane villian, no troubled, angst filled children but noble adult heros with their own personal reason to strike back the empire. Not to mention a pretty cool looking boss. points to her avatar. Simply one of the best.)

Phantasy Star. (My very first RPG experience at a pretty young age. Science fiction merged with fantasy, awesome looking bio monsters, and a continous storyline.

Ecco the Dolphin (all of it. I grew up with this game, I memorized it, perfected it. It is still one of the hardest games I have ever played. A bit dissappointed that the enemies changed with DOTF… The Vortex were so much better than the Foe…)

Halo (I never played a FPS that was this much fun. Enough said on this one as well.)

no order

PD series - peer pressure

Shinobi series - namely Shinobi III and the one on ps2

Virtual On series - though i liked VOOT much more than VOOM

Phantasy star series - for the amount of time i spent playing it

Ecco the dolphin series - i grew up with them too  this is the only series that features puzzles that i actually have to think about… all other attempts put me to sleep :frowning: and as much as i loved defender of the future, it still makes me wonder why the aliens weren’t called the vortex and why there was that crystal guardian thing instead of the asterite

Good to see so much replies  I might seem a little poetic but I’m not beeing hypocritical here :

-Panzer Dragoon series (they made me love videogames and wanna work on them, they made me love fictional universes, they made me wanna learn to play synth just so I could emulate Azuma’s music… simple the very very BEST)

-Myst series (they changed my concept of art and changed the way I dream;Music brilliant,Visuals brilliant,Characters brilliant,a completely original universe bigger than say… LOTR)

-Legacy of Kain series (a BRUTAL plot, BLISSFUL music, REAL characters a packed with a lot of symbolism)

-Shenmue 2 (great RPG experience and very original)

-Tomb Raider 1 (loved the symbolism present in the game and the music was also jaw breaking)

(No surprises in the first three names :D, but the last two places could be dilled by 10 games or so…)

PS:I have this craszy thing for symbolism.Every rune, every picture, every tune, every word than can be related to something in a videogame makes me happy!

  1. Panzer Dragon (Saturn)
  2. Lunar (Mega CD)
  3. Exhumed (Saturn)
  4. Mario IV (Snes)
  5. Daytona USA (Arcade)

1.Panzer Dragoon series

2.Skies of Arcadia

3.Shining Force 3: Part One (It’s the only Shining Force i’ve played, unfortunatly)

4.Legacy of Kain series

5.Morrowind

PD Series - Panzer Dragoon Saga is the only game I have ever pre-ordered more than a few days before it came out. 'nuff said

Starcraft - The only RTS that’s kept me interested long enough to get decent in multiplayer, and the only RTS I still play regularly.

Halo - Same as Starcraft, but with FPS

Sonic 3 and Knuckles - Nostalgia

Homeworld - As one of the few attempts at a truly 3D RTS (Warcraft III is not 3D, despite what you may think) this one holds a special place in my heart. The superb plot, and the fact that it featured a choral version of Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings didn’t hurt it either. Oh yeah, and it introduced me to the band Yes.

  1. NiGHTS Into Dreams
  2. The Longest Journey (click & point adventure game)
  3. Halo: Combat Evolved
  4. Panzer Dragoon series
  5. Unreal Tournament series

–Panzer Dragoon Series: … I am obsessed with dragons, shooting, fantasy. It mixes all three. I am happy. I am content…

–Morrowind: If I had an explanation, I wouldn’t feel so ashamed for putting it down as a favorite…

–Silent Hill Series: Other than my unhealthy obsession with horror, I have no real reason for liking these games. They just are favorites of mine…

–LoK Series: COME ON! It’s a vampire! It’s a demon! It’s swords and a story that doesn’t suck! It is deep for a game that includes slashing people to death. It… It… It defies words.

–Final Fantasy Series: Why does anyone like Final Fantasy? I never knew I liked it until I couldn’t get myself away from it. It does something to your mind…

You don’t need a reason.
