It’s the expected I suppose.

i can never view any CVG links you give me
theres just… no article
Too bad, they work fine for us :anjou_embarassed:
Are you sure you have all the essentials installed? Latest browser versions, java support etct?
Can’t see why you are having a problem, never had any troubles with that website myself.
Kinda bummed that the $299 sku doesn’t come with an HDD, oh well, I can get $400 before November too easily :P, just as long as FYE doesn’t go about being bastards and won’t let me get teh $399 sku, that reminds me, I need to call them about which sku my preorder goes on… I hate having to preorder from them, but I guess that’s what you gotta do when EB sucks potatos
haha funny reply
thanks for the info =)
might just be firefox…
Nope, works fine for me in Firefox.
I think I had the same problem as Scott when I tried the link yesterday: page layout loaded up but with no article, although it seems to be working fine now… odd.
Works fine in my firefox too.
Anyway, I don’t get this… Why does the European one cost 299-399 euro and the American 299-399 dollars… That makes the European cost around 360-480 dollars… Does shipping really take that much per unit?

Thats true, the European price should be a little lower. I was kind of hoping for a $300 price tag with HD, but I guess in the back of my mind I kne it couldn’t be possible. Better tell Gamestop which one I want preordered, since they already have my name down on reserve.
Gotta start saving that $$$.
Shadow and I had a discussion about that very topic.
You have to understand: you can’t simply compare direct prices without looking at everything in context. Living expenses are much higher in Europe than in America, and consequently, the salaries in Europe are much higher, particularly in areas such as London.
When you look at the buying power of the Euro/Pound vs. the US Dollar in their native territories, they come out relatively equal.
yeah… i just tried it and it works now for me as well =S
But when a product is not created in Europe but instead comes from the US (and probably without extra importing fees apart from shipping since M$ probably simply transfers things from a US based company to a Europe based one) shouldn’t it cost less?
Pre ordered the premium versions from Gameplay. Can?t wait
Don’t you think it’s a bit hasty to buy it already? We haven’t even seen what the system can really do yet. And there aren’t any exclusive killer titles announced just yet from what I’ve seen. I guess you can expect to see Halo 3 and the like (not a killer title for me but for others it is) but even that hasn’t been announced… Why such hurry to support Microsoft when you don’t know what Microsoft will do for you just yet?
Besides, for the X-box owners that love the system and say it’s all they needed, if it’s so good then shouldn’t it have a little bit more life in it rather than require you to buy yet another console already?
I’m going to wait atleast six months before making any buys, if I even buy anything before all three consoles are out. Probably closer along the lines of waiting a few months AFTER all three companies have released their consoles… Maybe buy a handheld in the mean time to tide me over… Probably not though.
Not to mention that whoever gets the 360 so hastily will then just bash Sega if they put out a new Panzer Dragoon (or other franschise) game on another company’s system…
Not always. You still have to deal with the European costs at all stages: marketing costs, distribution costs, storage costs, shipping costs, retail costs, etc. All other products follow similar patterns. iPod, for example, there is a $200 difference in price between the US and UK for the 60GB one. Not quite as large as the difference between prices on the Xbox, but within range.
I just noticed something…
The silver membership is the “free” one, correct? The one that will allow just downloads and “maybe online play on certain weekends” or whatever?
Of course it wouldn’t make much sense to go online with that subscription which has limited or no multiplayer play without a hard drive to store things you download onto…
But still, why couldn’t they include it in the cheaper bundle too so that you can atleast chat with people and things and if they decide to offer certain days free multiplayer to be able to do that too…
Not so “free” after all I guess…

Ballocks. I bought two Gilette Mach 2’s when I was at Pismo, it cost me $2.50. Over here it’s more than ?3 for one of them. Gas is about 1/5th of the price in the U.S. as it is in the U.K. The salaries in London are approximately US$20,000 more than anywhere else in the UK in terms of GDP, so that’s no excuse.
The U.K. gets ripped off by Import Tariffs, V.A.T. and all other kinds of governmental B.S. That’s probably the #1 reason I want to emigrate to Yankee-land when I finish University.
Don’t worry, bad old tax’n’spend Labour won’t be in power forever - once we Tories get back in with the next election, we’ll introduce a new Bank Holiday - “Firebomb the Inland Revenue!” Day. Huzzah!
