Ballocks. I bought two Gilette Mach 2’s when I was at Pismo, it cost me $2.50. Over here it’s more than ?3 for one of them. Gas is about 1/5th of the price in the U.S. as it is in the U.K. The salaries in London are approximately US$20,000 more than anywhere else in the UK in terms of GDP, so that’s no excuse.
The U.K. gets ripped off by Import Tariffs, V.A.T. and all other kinds of governmental B.S. That’s probably the #1 reason I want to emigrate to Yankee-land when I finish University.
While I’ve never done a cost comparison on razors, we get screwed on the additional razors over the initial purchase. I swear it’s like $3-4 per blade. Gasoline is, well, a special case. The US has its own reserves and has many controlling arms in the oil industry that has kept the price low… but it’s quickly catching up.
As for salaries, while London salaries may be higher than the rest of the UK, the UK average is still nearly double that of the US. I also imagine that living expenses outside of London are significantly cheaper, correct?
Either way, you still need to compare average incomes between the US and the UK in general. The figures I’ve seen show the UK’s average salary being about 70% higher than US incomes. It doesn’t mean that people in the UK are richer, simply because the cost of living is much higher. It balances out.
Well if you look at the linked page or the quote I gave earlier the silver membership is only talked about for the premium package contents… Do other sites report it as being bundled in all packages?
Don’t you think it’s a bit hasty to buy it already? We haven’t even seen what the system can really do yet. And there aren’t any exclusive killer titles announced just yet from what I’ve seen. I guess you can expect to see Halo 3 and the like (not a killer title for me but for others it is) but even that hasn’t been announced… Why such hurry to support Microsoft when you don’t know what Microsoft will do for you just yet?
Besides, for the X-box owners that love the system and say it’s all they needed, if it’s so good then shouldn’t it have a little bit more life in it rather than require you to buy yet another console already?
I’m going to wait atleast six months before making any buys, if I even buy anything before all three consoles are out. Probably closer along the lines of waiting a few months AFTER all three companies have released their consoles… Maybe buy a handheld in the mean time to tide me over… Probably not though.
Not to mention that whoever gets the 360 so hastily will then just bash Sega if they put out a new Panzer Dragoon (or other franschise) game on another company’s system…
Even though I?m not happy with M$ splitting the users base (in terms of the HD) , and rushing out the 360.
I?m more than ready to give them a chance after the pleasure of the X-Box.
Add in , LIVE RARE, Mistwalker, Q Entertainment , Team Ninja stuff and the prospect of an Online Tokyo Extreme racer and I?m hooked.
Plus there the hope (maybe in vain) that SEGA Japan is unto something on the platform as well.
LIVE versions of Rally and VF would just be the best thing ever
