Would anybody actually like to make Genos a real game?
Try deleting your temporary internet files folder and then going to the page again.
And it’s the same page and scene it’s just updated with the addition of a couple more models than before. If you happened to only see the first scene after the update then ofcourse you will see it the same since it’s the same link.
Yes, it was the temporary internet file problem, I should have thought. Great work; I really do like the Shellcoof.

Well thnx  Glad u like em

By the way I meant deleting your temporary internet files, not the whole folder itself :x

Don’t worry, I understood your point

I’m surprised people want to go 3D with this. I would have thought for a fan project, using a 2D SNES style engine like RPG Maker (PC Version) or a similar toolkit would be more practical. Heh If worse came to worse, you could import tiles direct from Motavia, another fine desert world.

I actually did think this very same thing when this project was first suggested. However, seeing how well Feveth’s previous (3D) project - Shenmue Zero - worked out, I am confident that a 3D game is more than viable.

We could still do with several more designers etc. for the development team, however, so I’ll urge anyone else who is interested to post here. (And also for people to decide whether or not Al3xand3r should be on the team, as he has clearly put a lot of effort into those example models.)

yeah yeah do that

Another little something I just made…
foxycat.notepadhax.com/Temp/Thing.html

And here it is added to the compilation like the others…
foxycat.notepadhax.com/Temp/Current.html

I guess noone except Lance cares :-

How many versions of DirectX do I need for this life?! Jeez…

Just one. The “latest” :stuck_out_tongue:

You guessed right.

Actually I don’t have the software to view those things :stuck_out_tongue:

No, those 3D models are actually really good Al3x! I love the Shelcoof and the Golia ones. They look very nice.

Has Feveth said if MilkShape models work with Dark Basic, yet?

Well no she hasn’t said anythin but milkshape can export to many formats so I need to know what formats her own program can import so that I can see if I can export to that and then she can import it and finish them up? (Cos like I’ve said before I don’t know how to UVmap, skin or animate…ack)

Hi, I’m working now on a pen and paper RPG in the forums too, so keep an eye, it may give you some ideas in the gameplay

Did the project die already or what… :frowning:
Where are ya Feveth :frowning:

I was wondering the same thing.

Feveth is just an Abadd (the poster) persona teasing us in a different way.Since there are no PD games in prospect he has to teases us using what he’s got.

I think an important point is not to over-complicate the game with new features like independent level-upping. Saga was pretty straight-forward, you could even win it with the power-ups you collect along the way without searching for them or buying them.

Maybe there could be totally different combat system for ground and air combat, but I think it would be better to skip ground combat completely.

In ‘our’ idea of Genos this was written in as a constant running-gag. It looks like the characters have to fight on the ground, they even have weapons to do so (although they cannot buy new ones, or those would only be ornaments for the character models), but in the last second combat is avoided every time. Some sneak elements could make up for the lack of ground combat.

Id be willing to help out with the coding and algorithms involved in modelling the environment if youd like. I have a lot of experience in coding in multiple languages although ive never used dark basic. I am most experienced in Java and C++. As far as graphics go I have programming experience in OpenGl although I am not a very good artist. I have programmed in basic before (back on a ZX spectrum!) im not sure how much different dark basic is. I have had training in converting mathematical algorithms into code which may or may not be helpful depending on how complicated you want the physics to be… Ive also done a bit of concurrent programming before although I doubt dark basic is multi threaded so that might not be helpful.
Unfortunately I have a lot of work on at university at the moment(hence the reason i havent been posting much over the last few weeks) and I wouldnt really be able to help full time until about June. Still if you need any help coding just let me know and id be glad to help.

What about a tech demo? Maybe a well made open source tech demo (like something with the dragon morphing or whatever) will help to draw people to the project. Something short and sweet, maybe graphics intensive, should be relatively easy to do in a reasonable amount of time.

It just has to look better than Halo 2 and Far Cry.
