Of course.
Of course.
So if the towers were shut down, and they were keeping the enviroment good and helthy, I suspect that the PD world will look something like…
this:
PDO is surprisingly “Green” meaning that the Planet is perhaps healed enough by now to be able and sustain itself now without the Towers and actually do a better job than them…
Judging by the legends concerning the Towers’ power I don’t think the planet can do a better job.Still it can do soemthing.
yes, but without the rainbow.
actually it seems to me that they weren’t so drastically “preserving” the environment, but more “altering” it. the towers orchestrated climates around the world (or at least continent) perhaps to have them work well in harmony with eachother… this could be something like creating a jetstream, balancing of ocean currents, creating a cold area in one places to bring water to a nearby area. we can see an effect in our own world which could be described as a negative effect, this effect is called el nino. there is a build up of heat in one specific area which can create terrible storms and flooding in another area. if that were to happen in the PD world, the towers would alter the environment to disperse the heat build up before such a disaster struck. in the encyclopedia of PDO it talks about how after the great fall (when the towers ceased functionality) the world didn’t just die, but the climates of different regions changed drastically.
so the world may be headed towards such a barren landscape in the distant future, but for now it is going to be basically the same… just a little different.
Well it’s natural that the flora and fauna become different because the Towers are no longer the source of life.
The towers were only partially active remember? And the way we see the environment look so much healthier after their shutting down could mean that they were so hypoactive that they actually held the planet BACK from healing rather than help it… So now with them inactive, nature takes over and shows how good it is at it’s job…
Hypoactive, yes - Harming the planet, no.They might not have been helping the planet (by heling it in a slowly fashion) but I don’t think they were “feeding” in anywyay FROM the planet…
Granted that could be the beggining of a very conspiritive theory
I never said those things, you have a wild imagination mr Gehn…
All I said is they could be holding it back, imagine the planet wanting to work this way, the hypoactive towers wanting to make it work another way (still good way though) and so ending up nulifying each other and being in a stalemate with the environment remaining the same… Then the towers get shut down for good, nature is free to do as it pleases and so the planet starts regenerating again…
The two of us aren’t getting along today are we
In that case why would nature prevail? The Towers were godlike themselves…
Eh? Nature didn’t prevail… That’s the reason im giving for the “stalemate” on my above post…
Then comes Edge and Lagi and the Divine Visitor shuts down all the towers letting nature free to take it’s course…
I think Al3x has a good point; the Towers’ healing process definitely wasn’t going as planned in the present day, and just looking at how much healthier and more verdant the PDO world looked compared to the PD1 / PDZ / PDS world it’d seem to make sense if the defective Towers were “holding nature back” in some way. We know that their healing plan had gone wrong for whatever reason, but because of the environmental upheaval that took place at the Great Fall it’s clear that the Towers were still doing something to the environement.
Perhaps the Towers were effectively keeping the forces of nature repressed, but they were not able to replace those forces with their own environmental programme because they were worn down / partially inactive? That kind of explanation would seem to work with what we know.
You seem to think that compared to 30 years ago the world of Orta is a lot more green.
To be honest, that’s mainly because of the second Episode from PD Orta; I really can’t imagine that kind of place existing in the same wasted world we became familiar with in the Saturn games. Now that might only look so different because of the vast stylistic change of PD Orta, and it might not be meant to represent a more verdant world at all. I don’t remember any actual statements in PD Orta saying that the climates were improving literally, but I’ll have a check regarding this stuff…
The question is: was the forest already there in the previous games? I’d be surprised if it wasn’t.
Yeah.Plus how could so many species be born in 30 years time?
Even if it was there (and yes it propably was) it doesn’t mean it would have been at the same state it is in now… A place like this seen in PDZ for example would look totally out of place wouldn’t it? So full of life? The only thing remotely similar we see in PDZ is the 3rd Episode, the Forest level and it’s nowhere near as full of life…Same goes for the Forest of Zoah…
And we also get a hint of the planet regenerating better after the end of PDS cos the world turns green when we are in the box game which is the only place that even tho not “legitimate” accepts the evens of PDS have passed (since it’s unlocked only after that happens) while as we know the save game we have is always before the fight with Sestren… So the normal game never acknowledges that the Dragon has defeated Sestren…
If nature threatened to tear the planet apart, then perhaps it was for the best.
Nature defines how the planet is - are giant plants going to split it in half?
A theory of mine is that the recovery of nature will not stop when it is comfortable for the humans that live now - it will stop when it is comfortable for the ancients.
Maybe they liked an enormously high amount of oxygen in the air - extreme concentrations of oxygen produces free radicals that can bring about disabilities in small children, and can even make a grown-up ill.
Then add anything else that is inhabitating our atmosphere - pollen that cause allergies, viruses, and so on.
Everything looks fine in Orta, but wait another 40 years…
What are you talking about, nature doesn’t exist to please the Ancients… it’s just nature… If humans exist in that world, and they do, thenn that means the original environment was suitable for them so i don’t imagine it becoming much different from earth at all…
