It’s taken me a while, but the third version of this website is here at last. I hope you all like it
Many thanks to Geoffrey for uploading it. I don’t have my own Internet connection so it would have been extremely difficult to do myself.
I’m considering making the forums use the same style as the main site as well (although nothing would change for several months at least) but I don’t think I should go ahead with anything without gathering opinions first. I’ve considered using XMB Forum (it looks easier to mod) as well, but that will depend on what people here want.
Something else I forgot to mention in the post above (although it’s mentioned on the main page) is that there is also an all new Maps section. Lance has gone into extreme detail to create this and it’s really paid off.
At the moment I only have it so that it will change my avatar and Geoff’s one automatically. However if you, Lance, and Shadow gave me URLs to a location where your avatars were always going to be stored, I could do that.
As for version 4… don’t expect anything for a while. I plan to work on - if the forum members want it - a new forum design that will merge seemlessly with version 3 of the main site.
I love Shadow’s old Solo Wing dragon avatar. I’m surprised he still doesn’t use it. I hope it remains in the Staff section just to remind him of a time when he used to use decent avatars.
Lance must’ve spent a lot of time and energy compiling the illustrated maps now found in the new maps section. Good job.
I’ll definately check out the forum system that you suggested, Gehn. I haven’t heard of it before. What features does it have over phpBB?
As for another character - maybe. My original plan was to make the site and the forums merge seemlessly, although on second thoughts, another character in the same style would be a good way of telling if you were reading site content or forum content. I’ll think about it.
It looks beautiful! Great work all! Panzer Dragoon always needed a definative site like that.
Love the new Maps section, Lance- great work.
Ever thought of combining with D-Unit’s Legacy site (I see you host it) to have Lance’s history section?
How about adding (the impossible task) credits to game info section? Lord Craymen has Zwei’s someplace, Lance shouldahve a save before Saga’s credits- orta’s are easy to get to and PD1 you can pull off the web…
I like the new layout, Solo. Glad to see that Lance’s maps are up (and with commentary!). You still need to make a real video page, but at least now a temp one exists and it’s linked so people can find it. Thanks a lot.
By the way, I second lagi’s suggestion about credits. That would be a swell addition.
I like the idea of lots of independent Panzer sites, it makes more a more unique range of sites that way, they can all have their own designs etc. It would be worthwhile revamping the Site Ring some time in the future though (half of them don’t work at the moment), to get all our sites linked to make it easier to find all this content.
Good idea Lagi. Definitely a worthwhile future project.
Yeah, I admit that Videos page was a bit of a rush job (I wanted to get the site up sooner) but I do plan to make a page featuring the music videos (and maybe some other videos :)). An idea I had - if the people who made the music videos didn’t mind - is getting the people who made the videos to write a short summary about their videos, perhaps explaining why they made it or what inspired them or just a general piece of blurb about the video.
