Well I think we should attempt to answer the question that’s on everyone’s lips right now… just who is the forum’s favourite Panzer Dragoon character??
Starting with round one, this week’s matches are:
Gash vs Azel
Lagi vs Kyle
Vote for the two you wish to proceed to the next round ^^
Azel & Lagi
The Lagi/Kyle thing would be close, but Lagi was really cool in Orta (especially in Episode 5).
Isn’t “Keil” the proper spelling of “Kyle”? I know that the US Manual doesn’t mention the name anywhere, the OVA cover says Kyle and my wallpaper (Japanese) says Keil.
I voted for Azel and Kyle. No-one ever cared about Kyle, and he also provided me with my current avatar, so he gets my sympathy vote
(BTW, “Kyle” does seem to be the official spelling of his name, as it’s the one used when he’s discussed in the Encyclopedia of Panzer Dragoon Orta’s Pandora’s Box. Although the Keil spelling is given in the Images section, I do think it’s meant to be “Kyle” and “Lundi” rather than “Keil” and “Randi” for us English-speaking fans.)
A random suggestion: might the polls be more interesting if the initial choices were between characters who were more related, or more comparable? Choices like Azel vs Abadd, or Kyle vs Lundi, or Craymen vs Zastava. Just a thought.
I voted for Azel and Kyle, because Azel kicks ass, and I’ve always thought that Kyle was underrated. I think this would have worked better if we were given the option to vote for the charictor that we like the least and the top (or bottem, depedning on which way you want to look at it) 2 or 3 would be knocked out of the compitition.
I voted for Gash and Kyle, as I think Azel is kinda like, 'Oh, look at me! I’m the super special drone who had an RPG named after me! But I’m all alone in the world… give me sympathy NOW!!'
And to be honest, Iva’s story completely changed my original view of Lagi. Now I see him as selfish and merciless, killing innocent people and all…
Please, be gentle. I know someone is going to kill me for what I have just said…
I think the first thing there is to deal with the incorrect statement which is “killing innocent people”. The Empire were far from innocent. They wanted to use the Ancient technology to basically become the ‘new Ancients’ - that is, take control of the Ancient technology and breed their own life-destroying dragons. If the Empire were allowed to be left alone with the weapons that they had, the world would be forced into a greater chaos than it already was.
Also, remember that it isn’t usually Lagi who attackes the Empire first - he is usually acting in self defense, to avoid his own capture or destruction.
I actually never portray (sp?) the Empire has beeing evil.Cold maybe but not evil.
Anyways there are some contradictions between Orta’s story and Iva’s Story. When did Lagi egt to kill Mr.Demilcol?Remember thos levels wher eyou paly Iva and you meet the dragon? How is that possible?
Well obviously not every single man, woman, and child on the Empire had evil intentions… but the Empire has done some pretty low things in the past, such as destroying Zoah. As Craymen said “Those fools, they can not even handle normal weapons”. Someone had to stop them.

That never happned right?[/quote]
I think Iva’s father was involved in the attack on Yelico Valley, at the start of Panzer Dragoon Orta. When Iva encounters Lagi and Orta in the snow I would assume that’s around the Episode 5 time.

I was also a bit confused about how the main game and the sub-scenarios were meant to fit together in terms of continuity. The best explanation I’ve come up with is that Iva’s encounters with Orta and the dragon must each happen immediately before or after one of the main Episodes - during the stages of Orta’s journey that we never get to play or really find out about. There has to be a fair bit of travelling that we never see in the main game, after all. (I’d suggest that Mobo’s sub-scenario fits in the same way.)
If Iva’s father was indeed killed during the Episode 1 attack, I think he would probably have been a civilian passenger aboard one of the many Imperial craft that Orta had to destroy in self-defense. It seems that his death would have gone unnoticed, like all the other hundreds of Imperials that end up dying in that battle. He could possibly have been in the Assault Carrier Vermana itself; it would make more sense for a scientist such as him to be “safely” travelling within that flagship.
