The Official Extended Profile Thread II
falls out of her chair laughing

Ok, ok. I didn’t mean it like that! I just thought you were closer to my age is all. =P
For the record, I’m hopeless at working out how old people are around here. I look back at some of the older profiles in this topic and imagine the person as how old as they say they are in the post, only to realise that the profile was posted several years ago, so the person will now be three or four years older.

Similar to how I sometimes imagine people to look like their avatars…

Don’t worry, I always pictured you as a horned blue dragon myself =P

Well I’m still not going to say it! But I’ll make it easy for you, just add ten to snowgirl_orta’s age and that’s me at this moment…

There feel better now snowgirl? I’m quite sure I am the oldest regular on the site… :anjou_sad:

What’s everyone’s problem with being older? It makes me, as a younger person, feel unwanted, childish and immature. If it makes you feel better, at the Myst forums I post on, I regularly chat with 60+ year old people believe it or not.

It’s not a matter of feeling better or worse… just reinstates the fact that I was an original Pazer fan. flexes I still have my Saturn and my games, despite acquaintances trying to “borrow” or buy them off of me. Although, I will confess, I was starting to think I was the oldest poster here. Thanks for joining me in the ranks of mature video gamers, Heretic. And remember, it’s not how old you are, but how old you act/feel.

Don’t worry, Gehn. I don’t find you childish and immature, and you’re quite entertaining, so consider your presence wanted. ^^

Don’t patronize me, your not my mother!!!

=P jk

I just said that because I truly don’t see where older people come from when they say that.

Must… resist… the urge… to moooock…

(Now THIS post is childish and imature :anjou_happy: )

I am truly just joking, though I believe when I first made my profile after joining here, it was a little shocking to me that everyone else was so much younger… like only kids are supposed to fall in love with Panzer Dragoon? And here I’d thought PD stood out for not pandering to the assumed childish stereotypes of most videogame stories…

But really the only issue I may have with getting older, is that I’m not sure I was ever exactly young. For a long time I was routinely accused of being “mature for my age”… so I figure I may have the right to be immature for my age for a while now. :anjou_happy:

Kids, schmids. As I’ve said before, my dad was fascinated by the premise of the game, and he used to watch me play it and we’d talk about the plot and the possibility of mankind ever coming to that point. He just wasn’t a gamer himself. He always liked watching me play, though.

In all honesty, I actually find it somewhat amusing when I see 15 year olds who were introduced to the series via Orta and can’t seem to get their hands on a copy of any of the original three games. I’ve seen numerous posts on YouTube of people asking if anyone knows where they can get a copy (especially of Saga) so that they can play it - for the first time! I feel privileged that I was an avid gamer when the series came around, and that I had the system. In fact, I was one of the few Saturn huggers in my group of peers. Most everyone I knew favored the N64. What can I say, I think Sonic’s way cuter than Mario ever dreamed of being… (No bestiality comments, Shadow. leers) It broke my heart when Sega stopped making systems, but I’m glad they’re still around.

Going back to the age thing, though - it makes me happy when I can say that yes, I played original Atari. Yes, I still have all of my video game platforms - and they work! I like seeing a glint of jealousy in the eyes of the 18 and 20 year olds that I go to school with. Now, if only they would stop trying to use pick up lines on me…

The amusing thing is, Gehny, I’ve watched some of you guys literally grow up over the years. Seeing you all change like that isn’t something you see every day.

Damn, the days of Azel Online don’t even feel that long ago, but to me, it’s almost as if you guys are different people now.

Which is a good thing of course.

Oh, and remind me to play through the Myst series again when I finally quit WoW, which should probably be in a year and a half. >:)

I think Lagi (the webmaster of the Art of Panzer Dragoon) is somewhere close to your age, but I couldn’t tell you how old exactly.

Yeah, I joined the Panzer Dragoon community and built that site when I was about 14 or 15, but it doesn’t seem like very long ago at all. Time definitely flies when you’re having fun.

Anyway, how about you post a profile in this topic Geoffrey.

Having a read through my old post makes me want to do this again. Do you think creating a new thread for everyone to re-do their profiles (Extended Profile Thread III) would be a good idea or just post again in this one?

Well, seeing as I just did this, I would just be repeating myself, but I don’t think it would be a bad idea for everyone else. I would leave this one. Maybe just call the new one Profile Thread 2008.

I know, if I wasn’t broke back when I played the WoW 10-day trial, I would probably be at it right now. Still, let my nick be a reminder of how, if nothing else, you must play Riven!

I can’t say for sure how long I had been a member of Die Welt but ,as far as TWOTA goes, it’s been 5 years since most us have been posting around here. That’s a lot of time. I think it’s fair to say my english has improved a bit. Oh and my spamming levels (even though I still resent getting a PDAA award for it shakes fist). =P

I only hope the TWOTA spirit lives on, and that each of us will stii be posting here 10 years from now. By then I hope I’ll be able to snatch the PD IP from Sega and rescue bearded social outcasts Yukio Futatsugi and Manabu Kusunoki, in order for them (and the remaining TA crew) to the develop the best PD game the world has ever seen!

And yeah, Shadow, I think that might be a good idea.

You could perhaps unsticky this topic, and create a new stickied topic with a link to this one in the first post. But up to you, Mr Shadow.

I like that idea. Perhaps with a different variety of questions and such.

Good idea… more incentive for people to fill it out again.

I’ll add my profile later then when I manage to grab myself 5 minutes. All the time in the world!

That would be nice. Actual respect for the source material, too, wouldn’t go amiss. I’ll be a much different person in a decade’s time though rest assured. I hope to be as knowledgeable as Heretic that’s for sure!

Don’t worry, I’ll play through Riven from beginning to end before the world ends, Gehntheberserker. I miss good sci-fi and exploratory adventure gaming a lot.

Not that I’m trying to instigate a beauty competition, but it would also be kinda fun to see what we all look like again, too. The only pic I have a Gehn is from elementary school. =P

I think there’s a photos topic buried a few pages into the Liberal District. You could always revive that, or start a new one.
