Yeah Cave Story is awesome, it’s similar to metroid/castlevania games and tons of fun and even quite lengthy!
I was going to post about it soon but I didn’t want to bury Battle for Wesnoth so fast, people seem to have ignored it and it’s a truly great game

It looks pretty interesting. I’ll bookmark it and check it out in a little bit.
Let me know what you thought, I find It great, and not as overwhelming as I initially thought (but I’m playing it on the easiest of the three settings the campaign let me chose from), I’ve passed several levels of the first campaign and it has a decent story and is not too tough to play. Though I’ll probably go to a save point a couple of stages back because I lost several levelled up units in that one battle and I miss them, especially my lvl 3 elf sharpshooter and lvl 2 red mage
Anyone interested in pure Deathmatch FPS games (original Quake style) try out Nexuiz.
Only good for you if you are the kind of gamer that enjoys simple mechanics and spends ages perfecting his skills (strafe jumping, rocket jumping etc). Otherwise, it won’t last long. But it’s a nice effort for sure with some nice lighting effects included though you will need a pretty powerful PC for them (but it can be scaled down to lower end machines). Includes bot support as well as online multiplayer with an in-game server browser.
The upcoming 1.2 patch will add proper support for other basic game modes like CTF and runematch.
A japanese puzzle catching on in America and popping up in various newspapers. Lay down numbers 1 through 9 across every row, column, and 3X3 section with no repeated numbers in any of the three areas. Hold down space to place footnotes in the blocks to see all possible selections and eliminate them as the puzzle grows.
Just wanted to thank Al3x for the Wesnoth recommendation. I downloaded it and have been playing it, and I’m quite pleased. It’s a very cool yet simple game, that manages to be easy to play but at the same time very expansive. I’m rather impressed with the design of it, too. Very entertaining. I can see myself spending a lot of hours on such a game.
I’m downloading Nexuiz right now, looks interesting.
I wish I had more time, since I really want to start Wesnoth, I already have it downloaded but currently am involved in Riviera for the GBA, so I wanted to finish that first.
If anyone likes the game Squares, thats floating around the internet, I made a game kind of similiar with Game Maker in about an hour. Very simple. The point of the game is to get rid of blue squares while avoiding black ones, thats it. Pretty simple game. The squares start falling in all directions, and you’ll see what I mean if you download it. I have it hosted on a free web space so the link will probably go down if too many people download so be warned…try it out of you like and tell me what you think.
Can’t get it to work right, left click just makes it return to this thread and right click downloaded a corrupt file (twice)… Oh well, I was only going to check it out a while, I’m not into puzzle games… The last one I played was Baku Baku Animal on the Saturn
Some various things about Nanaca Crash. The “stop” girl in special mode ironically gives you the most thrust. And landing first on the “block” girl and then on the other girls in special mode unlocks various “force fields” which give you different but beneficial effects. One in particular sends you soaring over everybody’s heads for a good thirty seconds.
Good idea to repost the games Al3x. I took down my puzzle game though, since I want to find a more reliable host for the file, you even said you couldn’t download it properly.
Felix, I can host your game if you’d like me to. Just email me the file if you?d like me to and I’ll upload it to TWotA’s server.
I still haven’t tried Battle for Wesnoth yet, but I plan to as soon as I get my speed back at the end of the month. It looks promising from the screenshots.
Finally started playing Cave Story, that game is amazing. So engrossing I just started playing for a couple minutes and I go and blow an hour on the game. The only gripe I have is that you peak at peek at level 3. But it’s good that you lose experience when you get hit, so it helps even it out.
You also get new weapons later which level up independently from each other too (but they all max out @ level 3). Some of them also have limited ammo. Well, one of them does so far (and I only have 3 total so far).
Btw if you downloaded Battle for Wesnoth there has been a new version released that fixes some things.
