I don’t see those corrections in the graphics actually, there’s a lot of more impressive places but the frame rate still drops (And imo much more often than in shenmue 1) and ppl still appear a few feet in front of you a lot of the time… I just don’t see what problems are fixed…
I didn’t find shenmue 1 slow at all…
2 has more action but also has more tedious tasks. Travelling from one side of the game world to the other for example, the jobs you have to do (booooring instead of fun like the forklifts), the characters while being more dynamic are not explored to the same level as in 1 at all… you can’t call your friends from shenmue 1 (why the hell not… I’m sure Ryo misses them), you can’t call anyone actually… It has no stealthy parts (it wasn’t the best thing ever but it did add loads of atmosphere in shenmue 1) and in the end it just has “fillers” to stall you in order to last longer, the real meat/fun of the game/storyline is less than shenmue 1 >_>
No arcade place either, who the hell would pick up the machines and hide them in order for you to have to search for them in the stupidest of places… The game got so tedious at times I wished there was a normal arcade place to go and have some fun since ALL the other activities the game offers for when you get tired of looking for the next clue are not fun at all… The street fights are OK but only for a couple times and most of them have silly requirements rather than real fighting. After you get the hang of it it’s real easy to win them too…
True nothing beats the forklift job. I took pride in my days work in Shenmue :).
The graphics are better in part II. The lighting effects look better, it seem to have more colour.Plus there’s stuff like the 3D sky, and far more people on the screen at anyone time. It does slowdown a bit more, but that’s only becasue it pushing even more polygons. The fly by at the start of disc 3 is nothing but bloody awesome. Some of the best graphics I have ever seen.
And there is a Arcade in Shenmue II. It’s where you get to play OutRun
I just can’t get used to the american voices. I know, the dialogue might not be worse or better than the original - but it is better for me because it sounds exotic and I can play the game “hey, I think I understood a part of the sentence this character just said”.
Shenmue 1 is a great game with a few flaws, but never ever enough to make it on the list of 10 worst videogames. Is Altered Beast on the Genesis / Mega Drive better than Shenmue 1?
I need the US Dub voices. I played the original with them, and Ryo’s emotionless “I see.” is just something i fell in love with in the first one.
Shenmue 1 has a more emotional feel as it has characters in it that Ryo has interacted with all his life. Its his home, and leaving that home is a brilliant story for 1 game. I’m glad they ‘rushed it out’, if thats what you call making it 2 parts. The second part wouldnt have been as expansive if it was packed with the initial chapter.
‘avoid the xbox version’? what. No. Get it, it’s cheap and has improved graphics.
As for Shenmue being the 2nd worst game of all time? Yeah, i hope those peoples voting equipment grows mechanical appendages and claws out their eyes and cuts off their hands so they can never play games or vote again thanks.
I can not believe they gave that thing the second worst game, I loved Shenmue, it was one of the best games released that year. I never got to play Shenmue 2, however. So I can’t really compare them.
Heh, Trigun is pretty funny, and serious at the same time. But Vash’s accent when speaking English is one of the most heavy I have ever heard…“Helluuupo meee!!” “Lovuu andou piecuu!!” Slightly annoying in my opinion…
