Sega sucks

What about Carbondale? give us a hint that it still alive or whatever because this is the game i’ve been waiting for.Gimme some hope puhleeze…

No true,
but ‘Maybe’ would have been oh so nice :).

Hm… Wish I could say something, but I can’t. Should be pretty obvious, though.

Beeing a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of Segata Sanshiro I can assure you TA that at least one inhouse 360 title will be shown.

Pretty much so…

Please don’t get my hopes up.
I have an terrible feeling SEGA will back the PS3 after getting thier fingers burnt on the X-Box in terms of poor sales, for what were AAA games.

Anway I’ve just put my name down for a launch 360, in the hope that Sonic and more so that VF 5 will be on that machine will full LIVE play.
If thats the case, I’ll be in 7th Heaven

And is just me that thinks Out Run II SP is screaming out to be a 360 launch game , now that SEGA isn’t going to give us a X-Box port :frowning: :anjou_sigh:

VF 5 for Xbox 360 would make my life! Currently I have to settle for DOA 4
:frowning: :frowning: :anjou_disappointment:

It’s pratically certain.Dunno what title but Sega is sure to release at least one.
Anyways I don’t think Sega’s X360 support is going to diminish.I think Sega now why they dind’t get much sales on the XBox.

And why is that exactly?.
It doesn’t get much better than the likes of Out Run II, JSRF and the masterpiece ORTA.
SEGA GT, HOTD III were fine efforts too
Apart from the baboons in the Marketing department. I really don?t see what else SEGA could have done.

Though I’ll would say Orta would have sold better if SOA shipped at Christmas (It was done and should have shipped) and JSRF would have sold loads if it was a launch title. Looking at some of the shreee cr8p that sold well on the X-Box because they were launch titles.
Don’t be late this time SEGA Japan for crying out loud.

If VF 5 in on the X-Box at launch or not far after it with LIVE play. I’ll be doing summersaults down the street naked .

Actually i always believed that Sega was holding back until the PS3 and Xbox 360 came out because they will both have a level playing field until ones ends up outdoing the other. (I still maintain that PS3 will be more popular in asian markets while 360 will dominate western ones)

A game like OUTRUN SP can be released on both machines as they are powerful enough to handle it and have the oppoutunity to be available for both markets on two systems if it is a multiplatform title.

The same can be said for SHENMUE 3. Sega would want this title to reach the boardest audience as possible so they will release it for both systems knowing that the game will reach it’s intended markets. The problem with SHENMUE was that it was on a system in Japan that they were not intrested in. It got the status it deserved in the west but the deal with Microsoft set the game back as the game sales suffered due to Halo and the import aspect. also no one in japan was intrested in the game. Finally if it was made available for these systems then we can see if SHENMUE will be appealing to the mas gamers out there or not.

Orta - Trust me. You should be glad Orta didn’t come out at Christmas, TA.

JSRF - No way in hell was that going to make launch.

TA : there are some games that will never sell.Honestly I don’t believe a game like JSRF would ever sell. It’s just a bit out there.Sure the XBox had good Sega games. But none of them could be classified as pop.

And so they didn’t sell that much.

It did for me Adadd and it was one of the best Christmas Days I’ve ever had.
Playing my Beloved Panzer Dragoon with those insane graphics, and stunning 5.1 pumping through the stereo, while having a Christmas drink and some crisp, and other Christmas nibbles .

One of my top gamming days that was.
So what puzzledme some what, was that my Import shop can get ORTA in and send it out before Christmas , and the whole game is in full English text.
Why was it held back in the USA (if all the text was done). The USA and Pal version are no diff at all.

About JSRF , I didn?t make myself more clear I know there?s was no way it would be ready for launch in the USA.
Just making the point if it had had been ready it might have enjoyed better sales. Rubbish like Azurik sold some 150,000 to 200,000 copies in the US alone thanks in no small part because it was a launch game. SEGA Japan should at least try to get one XBox 360 game ready for launch (to get the best possible sales. I don’t want SEGA Japan to be late and playing catch up next gen

Thta’s sort of the point I was trying to make

Also why wasn?t JSRF a Pal launch title when the game was done.

Still in saying that this is SEGA Europe, The same bunch of losers that decided it would be better to launch Virtual Tennis during The new York Open, rather than during the Wimbledon fortnight.

And I know this for a fact as I was told by somebody in the industry a few years back (No Bull on That one)

Actually, there was a rather specific and complicated reason why the Japanese Orta came out first, but I, for the life of me, can’t remember what it was :anjou_embarassed:

To be fair, America is a bigger market than the UK, and Virtua Tennis sold very well anyway, hence the sequel, PS2 port, and the new PSP game.

Besides, the Dreamcast did capture a decent market in America and Europe. Japan was where the Dreamcast struggled the most. The console didn’t even sell a million units there until it was dead. Why do you think that was?

Sorry Geoff mate, I ment SEGA Europe thought it be better to launch VT in the UK, during the New York Open.
Now only a totally complete moron can see any sense it that. Must have been the same person that decided it be best to advertise the best ever looking game at the time (Soul Calibur) on national by showing somebody sending a e-mail through Dreamaera. And the best part was Sega Europe cut out the internet part of SC too

As the DC dismal performance in Japan.

Well rushing the launch , only to not meet you?re pre-orders , software delays and lack of a DVD drive all counted against it. Still the damage was already done.

People were sick of SEGA, and the lack of Square meant people would just rather wait for the PS2.

Also I felt SEGA kept the Hidekazu campaign going far too long . Fair enough at the start it was right to say sorry, and SEGA had learnt the hard way.
But it went on and on, when SEGA should have been showing of the games (not that would have made much diff mind)

I always thought the reason Sega had a lackluster launch for DC was that the Japanese consumers were not ready to let the Saturn go and it was obvious Sega killed off the Saturn and it’s upcoming slate of games in order to fit the DC into the frame work but it didn’t work as the majority stayed away.:Remember in Japan Sega finally had a system that appealed to the average consumer base in their home country and Sega couldn’t do nothing wrong with the Saturn in Japan yet they decided to piss off half of their developers and alienate their newloy won consumers which added with the onslaught of sony’s PR machine Sega couldn’t cope and paided the price dearly.

So is Carbondale coming or not Abadd? I don’t think you answered the question.

Actually, the Saturn was dying in Japan, too.

edit: I thought my answer (or lack thereof) was pretty clear

But in which stage of dying? The Saturn still had a good two years of games in it before they should have pulled the plug, but Sega rushed in to soon before the consumer was actually ready for it’s death. They obviously weren’t back in 98. If anyone realised that was Capcom who were still making a mint being the only real big supporter of the Saturn up to 2000.

And no it’s not obvious is it if you didn’t answer the question. I wouldn’t know how to take the answer if it was “yes but i can’t say” or a ignore the post type of situation.

Like I said on the previous page, I can’t say anything, but it should be pretty obvious.
