In some instances, sure. I don’t deny that. There were some fantastic games on the DC that were leagues better than the competition (not in all cases… there were plenty of great games from other developers, too). However, the industry, as I’ve said before, is much different now compared to then. Everyone else has stepped up their game since then.
Now, I thought the VMU was a great concept, but that’s comparing apples and oranges. Xbox downloading levels is a direct descendant of PC gaming, not the VMU. Given today’s technology, you could probably make a much better VMU, but I would simply prefer no memory cards and for all hardware to come standard with a hard drive instead.
Well, yes and no. Yes, things could have been handled much differently. During the launch of the DC, all they had to do was show actual game graphics. They blew the PSX away. But instead, they showed what looked like CG (was actually done in engine, but difficult to tell for the audience). And “It’s Thinking”?? That’s just plain weird.
But, the marketing campaign would have been adequate had Sega not had such an uphill battle to begin with. Too many battle scars and too many burned bridges doomed the DC from the start, unfortunately =\
Heh… really? That’s news to me. Given that I’m good friends with Yu-san and Kodama-san, you figured I’d know, eh? :)[/quote]
That doesn’t prove anything. They may know loads of people that doesn’t mean they’re gonna tell them what Sega is doing to even their freinds and especially anyone in the industry outside Sega. Look at the Sonic Online fiasco Sega is denying they’re making it yet there’s evidence to support that it’s being made. All Sega big wigs will deny it no matter how well you think you know them.
Yu suzuki has gone around saying it won’t be made yet there’s some evidence supporting that SHENMUE 3 is in development and actually should be ready to release.
So excuse me if a few names of Sega employees isn’t enough to sway me on your opinion that it’s not getting made…EVER.
