Sega Poll for Franchise Revival

No Panzer, darnit!

NiGHTS

Streets of Rage

Samba de Amigo

Virtua Cop

Flicky (why is this on list?)

Lol. Do I vote for Nights in hopes of getting a worthy sequel or just skip the poll fearing a crappy rehash… I’ll go for the hope ^^

I would choose NIGHTS knowing they would probably try to make a nowadays version of Streets of Rage (and probably a not as fun version too) which would suck.

They should respect Yuji Naka’s wish dammit. >.>;; Leave NiGHTS alone I say! That shouldn’t even be on the poll!

Now a Burning Rangers sequel/remake. =D Now that would be awesome.

You realize that Nights wasn’t a Yuji Naka creation, right?

Didn’t Naka come up with the idea of making a flying game, Not sure what he did on the game it’s self as we know it (other than programing it) , its clear after playing BLiNX that the likes of Ōshima had a say onthe Art direction .

Who’s game is it, part of the Team that now work for Sonic Team USA ?

On a side note a LIVE multi player co-op Buring Rangers II would rule

Nights was an Iizuka creation

I’d even welcome a next-gen remake of NiGHTS, rather than a sequel. The same goes for any Panzer Dragoon game (which I am sad to see absent from the list).

A remake of Saga, perhaps with - as well as the obligatory graphical updates - a little more to do, a slightly higher difficulty (or just a difficulty =P) the few small bugs/inconsistencies fixed (including story elements such as the inconsistent dragon crests in the FMVs), a proper ending . . . I can dream! :anjou_sad:

I’d rather have it adjust its difficulty to the player. IMHO a “difficult” game can be pretty frustrating, a “challanging” (in the litteral meaning) game is the much better option.

We will probably see Nights for the simple reason that the concept is ideal for the Wii.

Oh please someone beg to differ!

Streets of Rage? Yakuza is basically a Streets of Rage RPG, so that demand is met.

Virtua Cop has the potential for revival in the arcades. Not on a console though since the age of Light Gun games has come and gone sadly.

Yeah I am being a realist like Abadd now. :anjou_happy:

Come agehn?

Yakuza is full of Final Fight/Streets of Rage gameplay. It was already criticised for being too oldschool in that way, so I am not sure if Sega could rival SOR without drastically changing the gameplay or making it more story driven like Yakuza.

Seconded. =D Judging from the game’s sound test there were plans for a multiplayer mode of sorts anyway. So I’d like to see that realised, and heck, Burning Rangers was one of the best platformers of the 32-bit generation if you ask me. I’d gladly see it be given another go. Even if only because it’s a bit of a forgotten gem, out of the final major Saturn releases everybody remembers Panzer Dragoon Saga & Shining Force III, but Burning Rangers? XD

do a quick rundown of who created what and who made what ideas please =S
it will help to clear things up…

either way. no new NiGHTS!

Sorry Scott, I voted for NiGHTS. I’d really like to see the game revived on the Wii (providing they can pull it off).

I voted NiGHTS, but I’m not sure if it’s possible for the current Sega to create a worthy sequel. And is it just me or does Super Mario Galaxy really resemble NiGHTS? Take a look at the GDC trailer here (click the Video button)

Bah! I hate being kept in suspense (well, actually I don’t - keeping us guessing kills time nicely). Sega wouldn’t make a poll like this unless something was in the works, right?

One would hope not, but with SEGA ones never knows

To me SEGA should forget about most of the games on that List and make a brand new serious racer , a update to F355 if you will To at last get its racing crown back from SONY (not that SEGA every really lost it).
The market places now seems ready for a Hard Core sim as decent sales of Forza and GTR and GTR II show , and nobody makes a better racer than SEGA or Yu Suzuki Even now F355 eats Forza for dust , never mind the overrated rubbish that is GT 3 or IV
The only man that comes close is Geoff Crammonds with his F1GP series

I don’t think it resembles nights, flying seems to just be used in a way jump pads are used in Sonic (or other platform) games. Still, thanks for the video, the game looks fantastic and much better than I expected given the hardware of the Wii… Now if only other developers would use it properly too rather than port PS2/PSP titles or make shitty PC ports…

You shouldn’t take this list seriously,it won’t effect the decision on which games on the list are going to be made when the truth is that at least three of the titles on the list are in development and sadly not at Sega japan.
