Panzer Dragoon 5: Proof of existence

I thought it was a rumor and that seemed to be the general sentiment but all of a sudden it seems like a lot of people really seem to believe it’s true. What brought about this sudden change?

There’s just been lots of rumors, because E3 was right around the corner. As we all know, no new Panzer game was revealed at E3, so unfortunately the chance of a Panzer game being in development is just as likely as it ever was…

Panzer Dragoon Funf IS a reality. Just beause it wasn’t mentioned at E3 doesn’t mean anything - considering, it’s going to take another 18 months to create the game in the first place.

This I do know: All of the developers who worked on PDO, and all of the ex-Team Andromeda members, including those in SegaWow, want to participate in the project.

What’s my source? Pure intuition.

What makes anyone think that the Sega higher-uppers want to give the game the go ahead?

Shadow has a point; as far as I’m aware, at least one design document for a new Panzer Dragoon RPG was put together just after PDO’s release, but (if it did indeed exist) Sega clearly didn’t give the project the all-lights-blazing go-ahead. The wishes of the past games’ creators aren’t so much in doubt, but they’re not the only ones who the decision rests with.

I wouldn’t expect to see a new Panzer Dragoon RPG until Amusement Vision has finished developing Shining Tears and the new Shining Force game for the Playstation 2. I assume the Panzer team is working on at least one of those games (correct me if I’m wrong).

What about an outside development team? I’m sure Sega has done this before… The game in question doesn’t come to mind though.

Most prob see a new Panzer game on the net gen of consoles. Though AV have said that hey are working on 3 X-Box games (1 of which is Spike Out). So we might let get a new SAGA game for he X-Box.

But the longer its goes on gor, the less chance there is of it happing (for X-Box). Would all be so diff if Orta sold over a million copies :frowning: :frowning: :(.

I just hope that we now get a port of Ollie King on the Box.

what in the world makes you so sure a japanese team will make the next panzer? PDO was made with the US market in mind, and why not give the next game to US team? SEGA is a publisher now, they don’t have to work with their former inhouse teams exclusively.

Why should it be amde by Americans?

And I think they shoudl stick with the biggest amount of PDO (and other PD games) working people possible.

Does Sonic R count?

Good Lord; an American made PD? God help us all…

Now now, dont bash American developers. Look at the absolute quality work that an American Development team did when they were handed the Metroid franchise. Not only did they take a 2D franchise to 3D and make it work, the game was also absolutely fantastic.

Really? I thought the game was a total bore, to be quite honest. But yes, it sure looked pretty. It sure the hell didn’t feel like a Metroid though.

I have yet to play an American game that’s worth playing - with the exception of Starcraft, which was pure genius.

Bah i’m sorry but i feel you’re just hating American developers for no reason. Only Starcarft? You didnt like Shiny’s Earthworm Jim? The Rouge Squadron Games? Warcarft/Diablo? ID Games? The Fallout Series? I could go on, but i wont.

There are just tons of great American developers out there. To simply say there are no American games worth playing is ignorant. Do you also think there are no European developed games worth playing? Perhaps the Canadians are no good also?

All i’ll concede is that as far as American game development goes we clearly have an edge in PC gaming when it comes to FPS and RTS and certain types of RPGs.

The creators of both the Myst and LoK series were americans so I must keep my mouth shut.

That becasue the west makes the best FPS, and the east makes the best RPG’s.

In the same way there 's no Jp FPS that can touch the likes of Prime, Halo, Duke Nukem 3D, Exhumed (best FPS EVER). There no RPG made in the west that can touch the likes of SOA, SAGA, Lunar (Mega CD) best RPG ever imo imo).

But I agree the west do make stunning games too. As the likes Power Slave, Halo, Kung Fu Chaos, Rauman II (DC) Batman Returns (Mega CD) show

The East and West just make different kinds of RPGs. Japanese RPGs are just meant to be 40 hour long animes with interactive battle sequences.

Western developed RPGs are more like table-top RPGs with graphics.

Both have their pros and cons… but Japanese-style RPGs haven’t had any innovation in years, whereas Western-style RPGs have been making leaps and bounds.

Keeping the forumula isn0t necessarilly bad altho I reckon that some gameplay tweeks are in order.

I just dont’ understand why the East never does non-linear RPG’s (I don’t know single title) and the West doesn’t make much linear ones either.

And it upsets me.

Complete and utter difference in game design philosophy, and storytelling backgrounds.

Personally, as more time goes by, I like the linear RPG less and less. Primarily because, well, if I wanted a story to be told to me, I’d watch a movie. I play games for interaction… to be a part of the world. And to me, that isn’t talking to villagers and fighting random encounters.
