I knew that it had become a legal program, but why so cheap? According to the site it only costs $1.99 a month to download from a huge library of music, movies, and software. I was just wondering if anyone here had tried it, or knew of anyone who had tried it and… well… knew what the catch is exactly?
According to the front page of the site, the program offers “Unlimited Music Downloads” which seems strange…
So you’d basically be paying some company to download illegal files, with the exception of any non illegal files on the network, which I’m guessing would be minimal unless the content is filtered.
It’s like buying a CD-burner. It can be used for both legal and illegal activities. It’s not the responsibility of the manufacturer to make sure you don’t use it illegally.
The tool (burner/download program/whatever) isn’t illegal. But, what you can do with it potentially is.
Hmm, it still doesn’t seem right to me. I think we all know that they probably make most of their money off customers who are downloading copyrighted music/movies etc, unless the content is filtered so that only free files show up.
Apple’s approach sounds much better, you pay about a dollar for each song you download from iTunes and (I think) you can keep them forever.
You probably have the old version, it was released before this pay-service came into play.
