Is Sony still the enemy or is it now EA?

This question goes out to mainly Sega gamers and Sega sympahisers. Do you still hate Sony or has that been replaced with any hate for EA?

I dunno if it’s a Sega thing but they seem to draw out the worse in people
when it comes to buisness. The whole Nintendo war when they tried to feck up Sega by reporting them to the US senate then Sony dubious methods to destroy DC and now it definatly looks like there’s going to be a war with EA.

Has EA replaced Sony as being Sega’s number 1 enemy now?

A lot of gamers like to accuse Sony of dumbing down gaming but EA’s crime seem to be buying up gaming to the extent it will come from the same bland source. Is this worse than what Sony preceived threat four years ago?

EA, Sony and SquareEnix are the three faces of the digital entertainment Satan. We hate them all equally.

I don’t particularly dislike Sony. But i do dislike most of it’s selfproclamed fans.
Same things with SquareEnix.

I’m not afraid to say I liked Chrono Trigger btw.

With EA it’s different.I dislike dictators as much as everyone else. When they dictate bad things anyways…

Quite so. These blasphemous, heinous, deviant, sordid, despoiled, appalling, nauseating, vile, honourless, conniving, underhanded, foul, foetid, despicable, disgusting, abhorrent, abominable, atrocious, repulsive, repellent, repungent, putrescent, damned and apostatical malefactors are all constituents of an irredeemable triumvirate of unholy evil that desecrates the gaming world with its hideous defecating streams of gaming scatology. May the Devil claim them all.

Bring me up to speed on this, why does everyone hate Square Enix so much? Apart from ruining the FF series they haven’t done any questionable things especially to Sega so why the hate?

For a variety of reasons. Squaresoft and its later amalgamation of SquareEnix whored themselves out to Sony, and simulataeneously generated hordes upon hordes upon appalling and terrible hordes of incontinent fanboys and freakish yaoi-obsessed fangirls that both formed a solid phalanx of idiocy about the Playstation to aid in its infernal commercial supremacy, and will categorically rubbish and pour contempt upon any other RPG after hearing no more than the title. “OMG LIEK CLOD’S NOT IN IT!!!111eleven1111” I have personal experience of this.

No, there’s no hope left for SquareEnix. They too are beyond redemption.

Then they must die for I too have experienced this…

I dislike Sony as a company in general. They can be quite underhanded in the music industry too. >.>;; Why a local group here who had a contract with Sony had to cough up ?25000 euro to let them use Sony’s studios to record a single… only to later on here that Sony won’t be releasing the single in favour of more ah… popular artists. That’s just mean. >.>;;

Maybe because even though FF X-2 and Drakenguard were festering piles of garbage, they still managed to sell on the strength of Square’s reputation.

Game Arts seem to have suffered after being taken under Square-Enix’s wing too.

Actually, I don’t have any particular problem with Square-Enix apart from the notion that they create the best RPGs in the world.

In truth Enix’s games weren’t bad, in that they published Dragon Warrior and some of the Grandia games.

I disagree.

FFX-2 wasn’t too bad, there were many aspects of that game that I can respect and found very addicting.

Drakengard may not have been great, but it too had it’s moments, and I liked the theme. By the way, did Drakengard even sell well? Plaese let me know of your sources, Mr. Duke.

I doubt it.

I know for a fact that it sold well in Japan, because apparently, not only did it have the same “cinematic appeal” as the Final Fantasy games but also has a few things in common with the ever-popular Dynasty Warrior series.

If the game hadn’t been published by Square-Enix, it wouldn’t have received even half the attention that it did. That’s for sure.

FFX-2 was a poor cash-in hoping to ride on the success of FFX, which was overrated in the first place. The scantily-clad all female lead cast of characters constituted one of the most contrived attempts at baiting in a sex-starved male audience I’ve seen in quite some time. But of course, that didn’t stop the game from selling millions of copies in all territories.

That is a perfect summary of what happened Geoffrey.

When FFX was released I was appalled to see how more attention was given to the graphical representations of some characters than to the actual game itself. I played it a couple of months after release and not only thought it was on the lower end of recent RPG’s but that it was the worst Final Fantasy from 7-10. The only high part of the game was the score.

Alright I’ll give you that. I still thought it was a good game, just with a bad premise.

I’m still waiting for proof.

I disagree. The game was long, fully-featured with an excellent character advancement system, an entertaining story with above average voice acting, and challenging gameplay.

I don’t know about you, but that’s all I ask for in an RPG.

Although some of the real-time 3D character models seen in the game are quite impressive, the graphics seen in FFX are far from perfect. However, that’s a story for another day…

Is FFX a good RPG? Yes. Is it the best RPG of all time ever, or even the best RPG of its time? No and no.

You can read an interview with the creators of Drakenguard in which they elaborate on how and why the game took off in Japan here. If it was developed by anyone other than the creators of Final Fantasy, I doubt that it would’ve enjoyed the same level of success.

I can agree to that. When I first saw the game I thought it was going in the wrong direction, so from the get go I definitely had a bias against it.

What were your initial impressions of Final Fantasy XII (12)? It looks as if Square-Enix have pushed the PS2 to its very limits to make this game possible. Oh, and I love the girl who’s wearing the 1 inch skirt. Heh. I’ve never been a fan of the FF series like many RPG fans and casual gamers alike seem to be, so I will probably steer clear of it.
