I have some great news! I have successfully been able to extract the MIDI files from the Panzer Dragoon games (The first game doesn’t use midi!) This means that you can now create remixes of the songs, or just view them in your DAW.
Keep in mind that some of the MIDI files seem to be a little wonky, such as BPM not being quite right (this is mostly for Zwei.) There is also one song that I am missing from Saga, and that is the Empire battle theme. Don’t worry, I will update this thread when I am able to find it, and add it to the drive.
if you are wondering how I did this, I used PowerISO to open the games files, and then dropped the BGM files in VGMtrans, a software the converts different seq files from consoles into MIDI.
My next goal is to hopefully extract the samples from the game to make a soundfont.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Update. I have been able to find the track “The Empire.” I have added it to the drive. This means that all the tracks have now been converted to MIDI. As you may have noticed, there are a couple glitches with the MIDI files. I am hoping once VGMtrans gets a new update, and improve converting saturn music to MIDI, that I will do another extraction, where everything will hopefully be fixed.
I have now extracted the samples into dls files. For some reason there is no audio for dls for zwei’s, with episode 2 being the exception, it could just be my end however. Luckily, all of Saga works. I will get to work on making a soundfont, so it is more accesible. The dls is in each of the songs folders, where it will have all the samples that play in that song. You may see a repeat of names, that is because that dls reuses the same samples. If you have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask
I have been able to convert them into soundfont files, and have updated the drive. I also made a new thread, with dropbox links too: Panzer Dragoon MIDIS, dls, and soundfont
