Toshihiro Nagoshi from Amusement Vision mentioned to Famitsu Xbox that they will be showing a playable version of SpikeOut Extreme for Xbox in E3 2004. ** In addition, they are working with Smilebit on multiple new projects, some of which are coming to Xbox as well.**
Aren’t Smilebit only making sport games now? Maybe most of them are sport titles.
Even if they are wanting to make a new PD game, Orta was released in 2003, it’s too early to make a new game. Maybe in 2005, the year-of-the-dragon…
But my bet is that eventually they will make a new PD game. The series is universally acclaimed and, though it was never a huge blockbuster, they made the games anyway. I think that someone inside Sega should just love it
Man, I figured that if any one group of people on the planet could remember that all the non-sports game members of Smilebit merged with Amusement Vision, it’d be this group.
It’s no longer Smilebit, people… It’s Amusement Vision
I’m glad Sega hasn’t abandoned the Xbox. Still, we’ll all need to learn how to be patient when it comes to the continuation of certain titles.
I’m merely speculating here but the fact that many of the people working at Amusement Vision, primarily the former Smilebit teams, have a great deal of experience developing games for the Xbox is probably why the Sega subsidiary is keen to support Microsoft’s console.
We still have to buy a Playstation 2 if we want to play NightShade and Virtua Fighter 4. We hardcore fans keep waiting for Sega to make the games we dream about even though we’ll probably be waiting forever in the case of Shenmue and perhaps Panzer Dragoon.
Well, to be totally honest, there is no doubt in my mind that we will see another Panzer Dragoon RPG. It simply has one of the greatest universes ever crafted, and Sega knows it. At this point in time, they’re probably looking over their next-gen options, which is going to be tough because all of the next-gen systems are going to be quite powerful. It would be nice to see a Panzer Dragoon launch title though - just like back in the Saturn days.
Smilebit ONLY does sports now. All that is left of Smilebit is the sports team. The rest of the people joined Amusement Vision.
Therefore, there’d be no reason for Smilebit and Amusement Vision to work “together” on a new Panzer game. Amusement Vision could just create one on their own.

Panzer Dragoon Olympics. Choose your athlete from a number of human characters from the Panzer Dragoon series and compete in dragon based events. Secret features include: Blooper scenes, secret characters and the ability to play as a monster! Coming to your console: never.

Well, to be honest, I would rather have Overworks be the one to create the next Panzer Dragoon RPG, considering the ‘other’ half of the Team Andromeda members are located there (something which isn’t pointed out too often). The Overworks members were the ones who created the original Phantasy Star series (not PSO) and Skies of Arcadia - I think they could definitely pull it off better than anyone else, personally.
Overworks? Um… Sure. Why not? They could do somethin’ good couldn’t they? Trust they could. Just hope another RPG maker (Square Enix) doesn’t get a hold of it and try to make an RPG outta it. It’ll ruin the Panzer Dragoon name!
As for Smilebit making sports games only… Hehehehe… Panzer Dragoon Soccer. Now * that * is something I would like to see…
Overworks was also the team that made Shinobi. They also do the Sakura Wars series. Skies of Arcadia is what made most of their fans, though.
They’re a part of Wow Entertainment now… but they’re called “Sega Wow” now.
It wasn’t so much that the “other half” of Team Andromeda went to Overworks… a few of the people did. TA got scattered everywhere, so to be honest, almost every team could claim that they have “members of TA.” Not that that means anything to anyone outside of Panzer fans…
The ex-Smilebit team that made PDO was where the highest concentration of TA people went, though.
I really don’t think so.
Remember the official SOA orta site? in the history section they said TA went to a shrine to get purified because of the death of a team member…
I thought that by saying only Sports teams are left in Smilebit now and the rest went to AV, he meant that the Panzer team members are in AV now therefor that’s why AV could create their own Panzer game without help from the current Smilebit…
That’s why in the next post he calls them “ex-Smilebit members”, cos they are not in Smilebit anymore… right?
