Games that you're looking forward to in 2008

To follow on from the What’s on everyone’s to-get list for 2007? and Games that you’re looking forward to in 2007 topics from last year, what is everyone looking forward to this year?

Currently I only have two games on my list, although I haven’t been following the line-up too closely, so there’s probably some games that I’ve missed.

Spore (PC/Mac)
Alan Wake (PC/Xbox 360)

Grand Theft Auto IV
Halo Wars
Gears of War 2
Fable 2
Saints Row 2
2 Days 2 Vegas (Probably slip to '09)
Halo Chronicles (see above)
Sonic Chronicles (Might need to buy a DS especially…)
Tomb Raider Underworld

Bolded for extra emphasis on CANIHAZGAMENAOPLZ.

Do we know for sure if Alan Wake is coming out this year? I haven’t heard anything about that game in a long time.

Games I know I’ll be getting this year:

Persona 3 FES (PS2)
Soul Calibur 4 (360/PS3)
Ninja Gaiden II (360)
Bionic Commando Re-Armed (360/PS3)
Castle Crashers (Live Arcade)
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3)

Too Human (will buy a 360 in time to play this)
Tomb Raider Underworld
Alan Wake
Heavy Rain (might buy a PS3 just to play this and “Trico”)
Fable 2
Ninja Gaiden 2

Soul Calibur IV
Soul Calibur (XBLA)
Unreal Tournament III (360)
Tomb Raider Underworld
Tales of Vesperia
Operation Darkness

Fable 2?!?! About freakin time!

…I am currently obsessed with a revisit through PDS, but I wish I had more time to play games. I still have to finish FFXII. I suck.

Does anyone here have a PS3? I’m curious about the game Folklore. Has anyone played it? I really want to add to my library, but I’m having a tough time finding titles that are interesting and not just like everything else…

GTA4
Too Human
Braid
STALKER: Clear Sky
Mercenaries 2
Left 4 Dead
Fallout 3
Banjo-Kazooie 3
Fable 2
Brutal Legend
Duke Nukem 3D (XBLA)
Castle Crashers
Theseis
Gridrunner+++
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Spore

I doubt Alan Wake will be out this year. Seems too quiet.

Can’t believe I forgot that one. It’s coming out this year?

Also completely forgot about Theseis. I really liked the concept when I read about it. Never checked on it since.

I’m definately buying this, so add it to my list if it comes out this year. Ditto for Banjo-Kazooie 3.

Well, thus far the only '08 title I know for certain that I’ll be getting is Persona 3: FES, in a couple of days. Beyond that? If P4 hits the PS2 this year, I will definitely be picking it up.

Games I won’t likely be getting this year, but am still watching with interest, include: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer, Brutal Legend, Valkyria Chronicles, and LittleBigPlanet. I’m still keeping an eye on Too Human as well.

Yeah I haven’t heard much about it recently either. I don’t think the developers have set a definite release date yet, so it could well get pushed into 2009 or even later. Hopefully it won’t turn out to be another Duke Nukem Forever.

Alan Wake looks good. But considering we’ve seen almost nothing of the game, I’m not going to get my hopes up. You can’t make a game purely on atmosphere.

Speaking of which though, the new Alone in the Dark game looks very cool, that should be coming out some time in the summer.

I totally forgot about the next Banjo game (Banjo-Threeie?). It’s kind of funny to think that I played the first one so long ago, and yet I’m still wildly drawn towards that silly world.

And when is Castle Crashers coming out? It was supposed to be released in February…of last year from what I remember.

That Penny Arcade game looks fun as well, not exactly looking forward to it, but am interested on how it will turn out.

Silent Hill 2 and Ico beg to differ. (well they aren’t 100% about atmosphere but their gameplay is pretty basic).

I won’t bother with a full list, but the new crossover Mortal Kombat game looks awesome. The premise is MK vs. The DC universe. The first trailer has Sub-Zero fighting Batman. When I saw it I suffered a severe dorkgasm.

I think you are the first person I know who is actually happy about it. I’m more in a “sit back and wait” situation, personally. If Marvel VS Capcom was good I can’t think of a reason this can’t be too, though.

My most wanted game of this year are …

BIA Hellshighway (looks to be the best war fps ever) and above all else Ninja Gaiden II (for me the goty 2008)

Othere would be

Mirrors Edge
Riddick (remake)
Valkyrie
Sonic Unleashed (please be good)
Alan Wake
RE5
Rockband
Yakuza II
IronMan
QuakeWars
Unreal III
GRID
FarCry II
Fable II
Killzone II
AITD 5
Tomb Raider Underworld

And looking forward to the 360 shooter from Treasure (if it ever comes out) and the Cave ports

I just looked this one up. So they’re finally going to give the 2.5D idea a go? Sonic fans have been saying this concept would make a great game for ages. Here’s hoping it will turn out to be good console Sonic game.

I’d like to think that were possible, but the characters in Sonic games degenerate the experience as much as the gameplay nowadays. they need to focus on a core set of characters; Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Robotnik; with stronger story lines and the limited appearances of secondary characters like Shadow, Rouge, Chaotix, etc. Characters like Cream or Big should just fall into inexistance.

What gives with changing Robotnik’s name to Dr. Eggman? So weird…

And I have to say that something inside of me died when they decided to make Sonic’s voice sound like a surfer from California.

I can’t believe I forgot, but yes: if Yakuza 2 actually DOES get an English release this year, I’ll be all over that.
