What would you want from a Panzer Dragoon remake?

Hey TA, do you think there’s any chance of Sega bringing the Dragon Force “remake” to American or European shores in some kind of compilation package?

Of course, if the Panzer Dragoon “remake” is indeed a complete remake, then we can probably expect more cutscenes featuring Kyle telling the tale of how he was sent into the future from the distant past by the Ancients themselves to thwart the Dark Dragon’s evil schemes (a la the Shining Force remake). I can’t wait…

Who cares about continuity as long as Kyle is more talkative, right?

Don’t know mate, ask Abadd :anjou_happy: .

Doubt it thought, SOA never showed any intrest in this game when it was on thier own platform , and SEGA Europe haven’t even got round to releasing the 2500 SEGA Ages pack overhere.
Read somewhere that Working Designs have expressed an interest in this . But we?ll be waiting Ages if that?s the case

[quote]Umm I’m pretty sure that it’s going to have all new graphics, otherwise there’s no point in it. Considering they included the original in Orta, would it make any real sense to release the same game with an improvement or two sold on its own? I don’t think it would even classify as a “remake” if it only has that.

Or it could be trying to get more people into the game. X-Box never sold that well in Japan

Buy having the game on the PS2, it does give quite a few people a chance to play the magic that is Panzer Dragoon for the very 1st time, or people that could ride of thier Saturn a chance to go through the game again.

[quote]Even Space Harrier got new graphics (both new 2D sprites as well as a 3D mode) in its remake as far as I know, I don’t see why Panzer Dragoon would not when it needs it even more. Hell, the thing was so pixelly it looked as if it was running in software rendering rather than have any kind of 3D acceleration at all.

Space Harrier, AB, OU were a bit differnt though. They were simple 2D sprites, so even a simpe and cheap 3D upgrade polygon model, would look like an improvement in part (though I love sprits).

That isn’t the case with Dragoon. Also I worry as the Art Direction is the best thing about the series. Changing it too much , could really take away from the series. F
or me the 1st game as the best Art Direction and bosses in the whole of the series. I don?t like the thought of that being changed too much.

Even though OutRun 2500 is one of the better 3D SEGA Ages updates. It still loses something magic and classic Feel thanks to the new look.
In fact the Saturn version is a billion times better, what ever the case
I hope SEGA include a perfect port of Panzer Dragoon.

Actually the 3D in PD1 is extremely primitive, the polycounts, frame rate, view distance, are just ridiculous even by 32bit standards (natural since it was one of the first 3D games on the Saturn).

Even a game that takes very little $ to develop nowadays can easily surpass that graphics quality by far.

Art direction? Well that’s a risk but hopefully they won’t try to redesign things but just copycat them into something that looks a little better.

I wouldn’t expect anything that looks amazing visually anyway. I’m 99% certain the graphics will be remade but if they get remade I’m 99% certain that it will still be very simple 3D (I imagine something along the lines of the VF1 style graphics mode found in VF4, except even lower poly models) though way more acceptable than the graphics of the original look now.

So hopefully, the fact the 3D will remain of relatively “low quality” will help in keeping the same visual style as the original game.

I don’t want the same graphics style in a remake. Otherwise, what is the point of a remake?

Give me the original Panzer with Zwei style controls and targeting, as well as Saga quality graphics and I’ll be happy.

No not really.
Thanks to the VDP II Panzer Dragoon Water/Floor effects could be on a plane that could be drawn as far as the eye could see. And the graphics on EP 2 and 4. Still hold up well today.

So with out some major Capital its going to be hard to improve the game.

Also I know SEGA taken the Ages range back In-House but I?ll worry if any major changes are being made to the Art ect.
Feel that bit better if old safe hands like Takashi Iwade are supervising any major changes to the Art or graphics

Just higher poly models, higher res textures…more cutscenes would be cool, but not necessary to me.

Oh, and a US version :anjou_angry: :anjou_sigh: :anjou_sad:

All I’m lookin’ for is improved graphics and some smoothed out gameplay.

And if they even touch the music, it’s stabbin’ time.

A god damn RPG
