I will have to go with Contra: Hard Corps for SEGA Genesis.
Seriously this Contra is the best I have played. The only other Contras I’ve played are Contra (NES), Super Contra (SNES), Contra III (SNES) and of course Contra: Hard Corps.
I like how there is actually a story going on in Hard Corps. Then theres the many mini bosses. Its kinda like a boss rush. The enemy design is sweet and original. Theres multiply characters with different weapons as well. It also helps how you can carry like 5 weapons at a time. Plus the special effects are fantastic for the Genesis. And last, multiple paths and endings.
