To all you Shining Force fans out there

Hiroyuki Takahashi: There are also many requests to make Shining Force III. At one stage we got a petition with many signatures to make a new Shining Force game. This was sent to Sega, Nintendo and Camelot. There are a lot of people that want us to make that game as well. We don?t know what form it would take, but we want to answer the requests of the fans.

It’s been almost a decade… I really hope that isn’t a translation error in regards to that last bit.

Unless Camelot can obtain the Shining Force IP from Sega, a remake of Shining Force III is a pipe dream. It’s such a shame that Sega has proven, many times, that Camelot is the only one capable of creating a decent Shining Force game.

No, Sega has the talent to make a proper SF. They just don’t feel it’s worth their while, which is fair enough. The RPG scene is dominated by cliches and hack-me-to-death-ups, making the potential audience unprofitable.

Or that’s how these boneheads see it. At this point I would be happy if they remade SF III or made a new SF just for Japanese gamers. I should have just learnt the language. But hey, plenty of time still.

I still care but not if it’s going to bankrupt people and put them out of work.

The series is better off dead considering current market trends. Intellectual properties aren’t as respected as they used to be. By gamers for gamers? Not anymore. By business men for non-gamers. The industry has changed drastically over the last decade.

Let it go.
