Valve Software’s Team Fortress 2 is now free to play also. There are microtransactions for items but most of them are cosmetic while most can also be obtained by in-game mechanics. There are exceptions but not enough to make you feel hindered if you don’t buy anything. I never did.
Uwabami Breakers, a free danmaku (bullet hell shooter, a la Ikaruga) game made in part by the creator of the Touhou Project, is still available for download. Three levels long, but beating the first level by itself will take you quite some time.
Escape from Puppy Death Factory is a cool little flash game by the creator of the Merry Gear Solid games I mentioned in another page. It’s a puzzle platform game. Possibly action too later on, I’m not quite sure if it actually adds enemies and such into the mix in later parts.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=. You need to have Steam and Source SDK as it’s a Source modification, though any game ownership shouldn’t be required (and if it is, just get the free Team Fortress 2).here
Xenowar is a little X-COM like for Windows and Android developed as open source and so far with frequent updates. A simple visual style and plenty core features are already in.
Black Sect Remake made with AGS is out now, for free. It’s more like a remaster for modern OS I guess, no graphics overhaul etc from what I read. I don’t know of the original so I don’t have much to say, the setting and art seem pretty interesting though.
[quote]The people of Issegeac believe that their good fortune depends on the spellbook that has been in their village for over nine centuries. When the keeper of the text, your grandfather, is killed and the Grimoire stolen, the villagers ask your help. Now it is your task to find the Black Sect’s hideout and return the spellbook to Issegeac.
Lankhor’s Black Sect is a great game. It has however a few features that where normal in 1993 but aren’t so popular today. The game is timed, has dead ends, only 5 save slots, 20+ action icons, no smart cursor and you can die.
To make the game accessible to more players this remake features among other things:
Timeflow based on player actions, so no dead ends
Unlimited save slots (Well, I don’t know that. More than 30 anyway)
2 action cursors
Smart cursor that lights up over interactive areas
