Speculation on Panzer Dragoon’s Future – What’s Next for the Series?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been a longtime fan of the Panzer Dragoon series, and with the remakes of Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei, it got me wondering—what’s next for the franchise?

While I know Panzer Dragoon Saga remains the holy grail that many of us would love to see remade or at least re-released, the complexity of recreating such a title makes it feel like a long shot. Do you think there’s any real chance of seeing a modern version of Saga, perhaps even as a remaster or spiritual successor?

Additionally, what are your thoughts on the direction the series could take if SEGA or a new developer decided to push it forward? Would you prefer a return to the rail shooter roots, or something entirely new? A new RPG in the style of Saga would be incredible, but I wonder if there’s enough demand for SEGA to justify such an ambitious project.

Also, how do you feel about the execution of the remakes so far? Do they live up to the legacy of the originals, or do you think they could have been handled differently?

I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts, theories, and hopes for the future of Panzer Dragoon. Do you think the series has a real future, or is it destined to remain a cult classic with only occasional revivals?

Looking forward to your insights!

I think a formula of releasing 2 rail shooter games then a RPG would be a good formula for the series personally. My perfect Panzer Dragoon game would be a RPG like saga that includes rail shooter segments, like missions of sort

Like a Panzer Dragoon…with rail shooter minigames!

The market isn’t there for a high budget 3D On-Rails shooter which is what I would love to see. I do think there is a market for a big budget Panzer RPG even its more of reboot like SEGA did with Sakura Wars

There is also a big part of me that felt the series should have ended with Saga mind
