Maybe SEGA should take a look at what they did with F-Zero GX in regards to speed, and apply some of the lessons of it to a Sonic game, and no, I don’t mean they should make another Sonic racer… Just that racing speed and style could be used in conjuction with platform elements to create something new, and hopefully decent. F-Zero GX did take a lot of skill as well.
Problem is that F-Zero is a vastly different sort of game, once you look past the speed. It has no platforming, no combat, etc. I think there are lessons that can be learned from examining racing games, but fact of the matter is that Sonic just needs to slow down a little.
