And this is the single post that I probably agree with the most out of any other post I’ve seen on these boards
TA - I joke around with them on occasion when I have drinks with them and whatnot and yeah, they still smile at the idea. But, I don’t know if they just smile at me because they’re thinking “here he goes again,” or if they really are longing to release another Panzer.
Nights Into Dreams wouldn’t survive in this era. Half the charm of Nights Into Dreams was the rollicking sense of fun and childlike whimsy buried deep within. And that was something you couldn’t measure like the “go for a better score” element, the other half of this game’s charm. With Nights Into Dreams, you either got it, or you didn’t.
I think the only people who like Orta are the ones who never truly understood the Panzer Dragoon universe in the first place. PDO is a slap in the face, imo. It doesn’t even have an intro theme for crying out loud! That, in itself, speaks volumes about the game, mainly because it’s the first inconsistency before the game is even played.[/quote]
Oy! I’m as big a hardcore fan of Panzer Dragoon as any and could go on a tirade to any FF fan as to how Panzer Dragoon has a superior vision and art style and has an entire universe built around it ala Dune or The Lord of the Rings, and I enjoyed Orta. How does that make me less of a Panzer fan? True, it basically rewrote the entire universe from the ground up and didn’t feel authentic, but it was a solid game it its own right. I look at it as more of a side chapter of the story that didn’t really need to be told, but it took elements of Saga and elements of Zwei and combined them to make them its own. It’s just not as important as either of those.

Regarding to the opening post: I always find it hilarious when webmasters of fansites of some geekism always back rumours they want to believe to the full, even though they probably NEVER actually had any contact with the bigwigs behind their token geeky franchise.
“ZOMG! IT’S TRUE I KNOW IT!”, but you aren’t any more of a reliable source than your average gaming magazine when it’s time to publish the april editions of their magazines.
Apparently there will be a 2-players mode and some online functions. It will be a continuation of the Sega Saturn adventure in Nightopia. They said the reason there wasn’t a DC Nights game was because Nights isn’t about the graphics but about originality and gameplay. The Wiimote is something that will suposedy provide that.
Oh and new moves of course. It seems we will also be able to enter other kids dreams (not just Claire and Elliot) altho he wouldn’t really say.
hmmmm im not too fond of an online mode for NiGHTS
i’m actually not too please about it being wiimote-played.
ok sure it will be cool at first, but can you really imagine playing it for hours on end moving your wrist and doing paraloops getting highscores?
I seriously need to play at least one Wii game to see if that thing works or not.
As for NIGHTS 2 …I will no doubt have to buy a Wii in the future but for now a Xbox360 is a priority.
Regardless of the quality of the game this is a personal victory for me.Maybe the will open their eyes to other franchises that clearly have still a lot to offer compared with some repetitive IPs out there…
hm, well that’s the problem, I’m sure most PD fans bash orta not for beeing a bad game as such, but for beeing a mediocre (and as such a let down) PD game.
And there ARE some elements in PDO that are just bad, like the obvious lolita/bondade design of the main character. and the "we didn’t want to continue the “a boy and his dog” storyline… so we made “a girl and her puppy” instead. does anyone honestly think that this is good story design?
the story and setting of PDS were also pretty clichee like, but when developing an interesting story you have to “play with clichees”, not just use them.
I still thought it was a solid and gorgeous game, nonetheless. The only elements I hated were how the dragon ran like a gargoyle instead of a dinosaur and the utterly atrocious middle boss of the battleship.
On the other hand. Wow. Imagine if Sonic Team stopped sucking for just a nanosecond to make a really great Nights sequel.

Whats wrong with that its worked for Zwei ? Only diff being, it was one boy and his puppy . I think people seem to forget , how much of a good shooter Orta was , really when it comes to it , it’s the gameplay that counts and I can’t think of many better 3D shooters around
And to me the story and setting was ok , I just didn’t like the Art used on the Level 3 Heavy Wing (it was OTT) but other than that I thought the Team did a bang up job , but will never get the credit becasue its not SAGA II .
I’m starting to think thr same with true of Shenmue Online, it could be best game ever , but becasue its not Shenmue III (which wouldn’t finish the story) it will be bashed for all its worth
I only wish SEGA updated its IP with the care that it did for Orta
Personally I really hope this is for real. The Wiimote sounds like it provides a similar setup to the experimental controller that was being worked on for the canceled Dreamcast sequel and I’m sure if done right it would make for an amazing game. I’m certainly getting a Wii if comes out.
I was never aware that there was a planned Dreamcast sequel to begin with, or this experimental controller. Can you elaborate some more if you have more info, thanks.
The whole point of the cable detachment system on the Saturn analogue pad was because there was originally going to be a wireless upgrade offered (or so I read). I wonder if that was anything to do with NiGHTS 2.
