It’s nice how it’s a launch title, about time we start seeing what the next Xbox will have. I really like how Monolith is trying to to go for a different type of “scary” game. The screens remind me of 13 Ghosts if anyone has seen that movie.
This is the second Monolith game that Sega is publishing, (Matrix Online being the first). I wonder if they have an agreement for a set amount of games?
For anyone who is unfamiliar with Monolith, they were the guys who developed Alien Versus Predator 2 for the PC, which was one of the best and most tensest first person shooters of its time only marred by an expansion pack that didn’t quite live up to the same standard.
It’s nice to see that Sega is already preparing for the launch of the next generation consoles. Now I’m beginning to wonder if Phantasy Star Universe is destined to follow in Condemned’s footsteps by skipping this generation in favor of the next.

I said the exact same thing on another forum regarding Sega’s relationship with Monolith. It’s good to see western Sega games getting made and on the comeback again. Maybe this is a studio that SegaSammy might try to buy out.
This and news of a new Shining Project coming from japan it looks like the build up to E3 has started. I can’t wait to see Amusement Vision’s stuff!
Hey Abadd, what do you think of sega’s chances of success by making this title a multiplatform one?
Well, the press release only confirms Xbox 2 (which is strange, considering that MS hasn’t really even officially announced the Xbox 2, but that’s neither here nor there). PS3 is a little too far out at this point to really decide either way, I would think.
But, as with any potential AAA title, exposing it to the biggest crowd possible will only help
Hopefully, this change in style is a good indicator of things to come.
I Monolith
(AvP2 isn’t the only game… No One Lives Forever is another excellent FPS)
Not to mention the FPS they are working on right now, F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault and Recon - I think) If you have a chance check out the video shown last year at E3, it was pretty intense. It should be released in the second quarter of this year.
Who said it was not going to be good?People were dissappointed at the fact IT was the “great anouncemetn” from Sega last E3, yes but that doens’t necesserilly have to be linked with their expecattions for the game istelf.
I personally don’t disregard it.I haven’t seen anything about it that hyped me but I havent’ seen anything that put me away from it either.
I’m curious as to how this game will stand up to the likes of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. As far as I know, Konami has put the Silent Hill team to work on a new Castlevania game, and God knows when we will see the next installment in the Resident Evil series, so Condemned probably won’t be overshadowed by any firmly established horror-themed franchises when it’s released. Talk about good timing.
It’s come to my attention that the info I posted here was taken down so being a resourceful goonboy I decided to get all the info as I know some people can’t be bothered to go through the hassle of downloads and the such…
Ah yes… re-reading that, I missed the joke the first time
I’m curious, though… what do people think? This is obviously a very non-typical Sega sort of game. Are you guys impressed with the change in direction? Or do you feel that Sega has sold out?
Thoughts, impressions, and ramblings on the subject?
Haha! I thought you had trouble understanding the definition of “selling out”?
It really depends on how you look at it. Is this game meant to cater to the mass market by giving mainstream gamers exactly what they want, or is Sega/Monolith attempting to introduce something new to everyone in the hopes of turning it into a whole new trend? Condemned doesn’t look like a clone of a popular franchise to me…
Oh, and selling out means to go to any length, or stoop to any low to sell your product. What on Earth inspired someone to make Lara Croft sexier and sluttier than she was originally meant to be I wonder?
Well, the reason why I ask is because at what point is a company considered to have sold out? What if they are making mainstream games, but ones that are of high quality? What if the game is truly unique and innovative, but features licensed music and sponsored ads/billboards in the game?
This whole “selling out” thing is really arbitrary… I was just curious as to where people personally drew the line.
