Ryu Ga Gotoku, Orta Boys Do It Again :)

This ain’t the 80s!!!What kind of a name is Yakuza?

Wow SOA/SOE bringing this and the likes of Coast To Coast (so thankful for that). They really making up for years of hurt inthe Saturn days.

Its not often I get to say, but thank you SOA/SOE. Great to see them doing things right , for a change

Now we just need to see hell swallow Sony whole. I keep thinking of Sony as the EVL corporation from Virtua Cop. I’m sure old Kenny boy has his very own Apache gunship too.

Surely he’d be the evil laughing guy with the jet pack from VC2?

YAKUZA isn’t an exclusive 80s word since its been in existance for over 2 centuries or more now.

I would personally perfer a title like Dragon of the Yakuza or something like that since YAKUZA is too simple to use.

Yeah, I agree although i knew the new regime would get lots of things right. of course to some they have a real long way to repent the sins of their “fathers” crimes. :anjou_happy:

Dreams sometimes DO come true. All i know is others will come and fall but sega will outlast them ALL!

Yeah Goonboy, what I meant is that it’s too simple a name too.In the 80’s games used to have such simple games. That’s what I meant.

There was a game named Mafia a while ago, why does Yakuza need more than the defining word to be a good name? It’s pretty much the Japanese (or Chinese? Whatever) equivalent of that and I think it fits the game well… I dislike really long titles anyway so I’m glad it didn’t end up being something like “Yakuza Stories: The Black Dragon’s Nest”…

Off the top of my head I can think of many many one or two word game titles, I don’t see why it has to be considered an 80s habbit. Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Shenmue, Soul Calibur, Radiant Silvergun, Panzer Dragoon, Half-Life, Halo, Battlefield, Max Payne, Tribes, Unreal Tournament…

Short names are used just as much now as they were back then. If a game can be represented in one or two words then why should they use more?

I meant specifically one name names. And specifically one name names that were a common word.I mean Shenmue doesn’t strike me as odd.But Attack sure does.

Actually I have to agree with Gehn on this one, Alex: eleven of those thirteen names you mentioned are exotic or non-literal in some way, and none of them are quite as bluntly specific as naming a game about the Yakuza… “Yakuza”.

But as far as I’m concerned, whoever localises this game can call it absolutely whatever they want as long as it actually gets released.

Is it that hard? :anjou_sad:

I’m getting the feeling here that many of you weren’t expecting the game to EVER come out in the west let alone this soon.
