PDS II - the mystery 360 RPG?

xbox360.ign.com/articles/694/694493p1.html

I’m only making this speculation since they are basing the units number at 500,000 units…which isn’t all that great, but is definitely above average. Please be Panzer Dragoon Saga II, damnit. We’ve been waiting for a sequel for almost a decade - which is a decade too long, imo.

No way.

Do you really think Famitsu really have that high an opinion of Panzer Dragoon? I thought girly men wielding swords twice their size were at the height of fashion in Japan?

Now that Like A Dragon/Yakuza has finished development, the team is free to move onto another project, which will no doubt fuel more rumours. However, the pessimist in me just doesn’t believe that Sega would see the viability in a new PD RPG.

Fasmitsu gave Azel: Panzer Dragoon RPG a 39/40 when it was first reviewed, and I believe the only complaint about the game was the platform it was on. With that said, Famitsu obviously thinks very highly of the Panzer Dragoon series.

I wouldn’t mind selling my sould to the devil (Sony that is) and getting a PS3 PD sequel but even that feels remote…

Time will tell but I bet this is NOT a new PD RPG.

I wish but there is no way it’s going to be PDS II. As good as we know it would be the general public knows nothing of the panzer games so there is a good chance it still wouldn’t do that great. So I just can’t see a game company taking the risk of making it.

My guess would be something out of the Tales series. 500K units in Japan is actually quite a significant number. Only a handful of series actually reach that number or pass it.

To get sales SAGA will be out onthe PS3 if come to any system , as there’s no market for the 360 in Japan (the home of RPG’s) . But I don’t see SEGA making a new Dragoon game just yet.

Its getting to the stage that I’ll take anything SEGA make for the 360 In-House . Its stunning piece of hardware and I would love to see SEGA make great use of it , and LIVE. Because in a childish sort of way I grow so tired of people knocking SEGA becasue they aren’t backing the 360 .

I can’t understand SEGA taking the wait and see approach , after the disaster of their X-Box support (despite the massive effort form the Teams) . But man , the like of PSU and VF5 onthe 360 would just make my day and give me the firepower to shut up all the doubters and more so make me a happy bunney:).

But I really fail to see why SEGA isn’t making better use of Live Arcade a system that is so right for System 32 and 16 ports for starters (never minde MD games). A 16 player LIVE version of PowerDrift would rule, as would perfect ports of Super Hang ON ect. Never mind LIVE versions of Streets Of Rage II, Golden Ace III ect

If it happens any time soon, I’m going to get an X-Box 360 to get it… even if I can’t afford it.

And if it turns out that Sega go and make a PD game for a Sny console… I will commit seppuku.
Unlike some people I have principles. Strong ones. I would never bow to S
ny… not even for PD. The shame of seeing this greatest of things submit to the very worst of things would be too much for me to live with.

What principles are these then ? , not wanting to see SEGA games sell well then I take it  :P. I never bought the PS inthe Saturn days and never got a PS2 till VF4 (when SEGA were well and truly of the Hardware game.

My thats supporting SEGA so well, by not buying thier games becase its on a Sony Platfrorm, never mind that why SEGA get some of thier best sales. So called hardcore fans like that, SEGA can well do with out

If the sort of success you want Sega to have involves bowing down to S*ny and kissing their feet… well… let them do it outside of my knowledge. I don’t want to live in a world turned upside-down like that.

This isn’t just about Sega.
This is about the gaming industry. Sny have barged their way into it and reshaped it to their own liking, and have unfortunately faced little direct opposition to this… and the day when Sega bow down to Sny’s way of doing things is the day that I die.
Sometimes I cry even thinking about what has already passed.
Its Sny’s fault that Sega no longer make their own consoles. Thats such a huge thing I can barely bring myself to express it. It was the start of Sega making games for OTHER people…
But if they actually ‘move in’ with S
ny … become S*ny’s bitch, so to speak.

Sighs and shrugs

Well. To each their own. I know few feel as strongly about it as I do… but true to my honour, I won’t live in that kind of a world. I want to die in the knowledge that Sega still have some honour left.

Its got nothing to do with SEGA kissing up with SONY,It?s got everything with SEGA doing well and getting the best sales, if that on SONY hardware so be it. SONY didn?t cost SEGA the Hardware dream SEGA did all that their self?s with SEGA America/Europe inept handling of the Saturn in the West , and the total cock up that was the 32X , that?s what cost SEGA (sod all do with SONY)

I admrie you stand, and did the same when SEGA were in the Hardware game, but they aren’t any longer. And games like SAGA II (if we were ever to have one) would need to come out onthe PS3 to get the sales.
I’ll rather see the boys work on SONY hardware, than for them not to work on any hardware at all, and go to the wall .

yep. Sega’s (Sega of America at least) crappy marketing since the saturn days really screwed them over. I hardly remember any ads for saturn games (except for the 3 free games promotion) on TV while I saw FF7 ads almost all the time. You’d think that Sega would learn and not repeat history with the DC, but they did. Of course, Sony took advantage of every opportunity they had as well.

Aww come on TA what happened to your laid back optimisim? Me,GD and a few others in another forum that you know of has refused to buy into S*ny products too but you never lambast us for it.Why this kid?

While i am pleased that Sega is doing well i won’t say that i’m pleased on how they went about it. I’m not particularly pleased about their handling with SHINING FORCE. I’m not pleased that a lot of MIA AAA titles may never resurface. I’m not pleased about a lot of things Sega has done over the years that has put me to the end of my teather. I’m optimistic because i know that they make great games and at the end of the day these type of games appeal to me and challenge me. Yet if your asking me to purchase a product that i and many others have a total aversion to than that is going to far. i may play other peoples Ps2’s but i will never buy one. I may be a Sega fan but i’m not blind either. My opposition to s*ny is bigger than what they did to sega but what they ultimatly represent as a company what they did to the industry and basically their unreliable shoddy products. sega games or no with that mentality i expect you to have purchased the N-Gage and other quiet systems that the odd Sega game has appeared on. Well my wallet for one can’t take it and these days you should be careful where you spend your money. I choose to spend it on games i want sega to make more of.

While i agree with your sentiments unfortunaly unless i’m hopefully proven wrong, SOJ seems intent to support the PS3 to the hilt, more than their other systems which is where the other western game studios making games for sega come in to fill the gap.

If another PANZER DRAGOON is on the cards i expect them to put it on a system that they feel may get the finacial cashback this series deserves.if anything the thing that has hampered this series is that its on a system with a limited audience. If the PS3 is a success and a PD goes on it maybe
then it can be a stealler success that this game truly deserves. of course than in itself may cause bigger problems in the longrun.

Myself i think that Rev controller would be cool to use on a PANZER DRAGOON game…

On another note expect to see some of TMS stuff from Sega this or next year. A Sega made LUPIN THE THIRD is long overdue.
