PD Legacy update

It’s been a long while since I first announced the PD Orta synopsis for my website, but now it’s finally finished. You’ll find a complete summary of Panzer Dragoon Orta here:

Thanks go to Lance Way for helping me write the synopsis, and of course to Solo for hosting the site at panzerdragoon.net. I hope the end result was worth the wait :anjou_happy:

Great work, I just finished reading through all of it.

One small nitpick for the ending though. I’m fairly sure that the dragon pup wasn’t walking on its hind legs but rather on all fours (though it did stand up on its hind legs rather dog-like at one point). And its front legs were perfectly shaped as just that, with the addition of the wings membrane. Much like Lagi was in the level where he run on all fours I suppose.

(Which is why I also didn’t like the pup much since I was hoping it would have wings and not front legs, just like Lagi was originally in PDZwei - I do hope they’ll change the design back if another PD is developed)

Well that’s it. Great job :anjou_love:

I think that paragraph was my doing, and as far as I can remember it was something that I wrote from memory after not having played the game for several months, so yeah, sorry about that. I’ll watch the ending sequence again and work out a bit of an amendment at some point…

Glad you thought the rest of it was good, anyhow. :anjou_happy:

Nice work! Now all those fools who overlooked PD Orta can find out what the the fuss was all about. >:)

But with just reading about it they get some of the good ie the story extentions, and none of the bad ie the altered visual style (ok there are screens, it’s not the same though), the levels flow, enemies patterns, etc etc! It does make it sound better than it felt when I played through it btw!

But wouldnt the new dragon pup seen in the closure be closer to a coolia than to the mutated Lagi pup from PDZ? I mean, Lagi had the Heresy Program guiding his development to the classic dragon shape, whereas the new pup would be a reflection of Lagi without Heresy Program. That is it will resemble a coolia closer than it would Heresy infused Lagi pup (hope that made sense)?

Sure you can argue that they can back it up storywise, I just disagree with doing the change on first place. I loved the intricate designs of the previous panzer games and seeing him get westernised just, well, hurts.

What’s next? Change him to having four legs and a pair of wings on his back and breathe fire?

They could as well have left the original design. The heresy program might be gone but the DNA alterations it caused had really no reason to start disappearing. Again, yes, they CAN make up a reason for it (say the coolia dna starts “healing” itself or whatever), I just don’t like that they wanted to do it on first place.

Ditto paws shmaws.I wonder if Smilebit ever read PD fan chats online.
