Panzer Dragoon Saga value

Dragon Force is more enjoyable in my opinion in that it offers more replayability. Panzer Dragoon Saga hasn’t stood the test of time very well like Dragon Force and Guardian Heroes have. The Saturn displayed its graphical prowess best when games developed for it merged 2D and 3D graphics, though that’s not to say PD Saga isn’t a graphically superb 32 bit game (which it is).

I enjoy those games too, but not as much as Panzer Dragoon Saga. Dragon Force I’ve yet to beat. I think it provided too much of a good thing. Guardian Heroes is hands down the single greatest beatemup ever and is also a blast as a party game. But beatemups are never as deep or as emotionally engaging as rpgs.

Speaking of 2D and 3D, I think the most colorful 2D game back then was Astal. Too bad it was so short. And the most colorful 3D game in a 2D setting was hands down Nights Into Dreams.

Well… I’m fine playing crappy looking games, as long as they are fun :). The important thing is: Has the gameplay stood the test of time? I could care less if the graphics look dated.

While Panzer Dragoon Saga’s graphics seem rough around the edges by today’s standards, the game’s artistry still holds its own. I loved Panzer Dragoon Saga when it was released, but even then I was disappointed by how short it was. Skies of Arcadia is just as enjoyable as Panzer Dragoon Saga but is roughly three times as long and can be bought for a fraction of the price.

As far as I’m concerned, Sega Saturn owners should’ve enjoyed English versions of Riglord Saga 2, Dragon Force 2, Grandia, and Shining Force 3 Scenarios 2 and 3 on top of Panzer Dragoon Saga. RPG fans would’ve been in heavan.

I have Skies of Arcadia (actually Legends), and I absolute adore it :). I have it at 100% :D. Yay for Sky Fang

The great thing about Panzer Dragoon Saga is that there is rarely a dull moment in the entire game. The game isn’t plauged with heaps of random battles (they’re rare), and when they do appear they’re extremely fun and often require tactics too. The towns are excellent as well (although there were only a few of them) because there are no faceless individuals, nearly every character has a name and a personality.

The game is short, but that’s because you don’t spend half the game following people around like in some other RPGs. It stayed focused on the storyline all the way. I do wish that the game had been longer though, but that’s because it was so enjoyable.

Well the one thing that irked me about SoAL is the number of random battles… And I realize is was cut down from the DC version. But aside from that, I loved it and I liked looking for the Discoveries, finding all the crew members, etc.

I think the game sounds like I’d really love it. It has dragons after all :D. Free points for Dragons 8).

Well, I’m a little late for this discussion but I’ll give my opinion anyway

I paid something like US$ 121,00 dollars for my copy (I paid it in R$ not US$) and I didn’t regret it. I bought it in the beginning of this year so when I played the game, obviously the graphics didn’t impressed me (though I think they are OK) but the gameplay and the story got me. After PDS I bought PD2 and PD (at more reasonable prices thankfully!) and even being older games than PDS I really enjoyed them.

After that I bought/dl much more games for other consoles/PC but PDS is still my fav game. Probably it is just a case of “love at first sight” but I think it is one of the greatest games of all times.

And like people said you can always resell the game after playing it and even make a profit from some crazy guy like me!

I only wish Sega would make a new Panzer RPG so that more people could enjoy all the wonders that the Panzer world has to offer.

If anything, the Panzer community has learned to be patient over the years, so I don’t mind waiting even if it means waiting forever. I’m almost certain, however, that the creators themselves are eager to continue the series they started in their own time and in their own way.

Talking about PDS value… o_O

I think I’ll ask a grand for my copy…

Rolls eyes.

Only a fool would spend that much money on a copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga.
