I think the hardest thing to conceive is how much of the world we are familar with, and the 'Southern Peoples" just seem so far away into all these unknowns, it just seems odd. It is a big map- Saga, which was an large epic, happened on such a small part of it. I would almost expect no contact between that world and people outside it- I mean the Southern Poeples would be extremely far to contact- wouldn’t there be larger settlements of people who would be closer?
Maybe it was just a poor decision of words on the PDO translator history guy. Wish somebody could speak Japanese and translate all the info in my guidebooks!

I agree here, it just seems the Southerners are so far away which leaves open a lot of questions about the size of the empire and whether or not their were other populated (non imperial areas) out beyond the areas that we know.
I think a decent way of considering it would be a comparispon with the real-world British empire of a couple of hundred years ago. Now the British empire once spread throughout the world, even though *Britain *has only ever been this little pair of islands. Similarly, the PD world’s Empire is meant to have its power spread across the entire continent; even though its homelands (which have no official name) are confined to that relatively small area I’ve illustrated above. Just as Britain is surrounded by sea, the Empire’s homelands are surrounded by vast mountain ranges and uninhabitable wastelands.
It’s often stated that the Empire controls many pockets of inhabitable land across the Continent, so I think it’s safe to assume that there are many other Imperial regions (both large and small) across the Continent which we simply don’t know of. It’s certainly possibly that some unknown cities and colonies are within the confines of these maps.
That is a pretty good analogy- I hadn’t thought about it like that.
Lord of the Rings also has it’s 'Easterlings" which don’t really have a spot on the world…
so do we not really know anything about the rest of the continent? i knew the panzer world was huge as there are so many varrying environments, but to think that that is just a small region of the western part of one continent is almost unsettling
has there been any mention of more than one continent? or even just what lies beyond the eastern mountain range? even if it didn’t have all the little details on it, i think it would be interesting to know the shape of the continent
any guesses on just how much area those maps cover? there’s just so much diversity; you have jungles, forests, deserts, huge lakes, frozen seas, canyons, snow plains, and lets not forget the ancient ruins since they can span entire regions as well and they are all in close vicinity (on a global scale)?
