Otogi 2 trailer

gamershell.com/news_BOtogi2BTrailer.shtml

yup, already, yup, X-box again

By the way did anyone here get/rent the original? What’s it like, does it get repetitive and boring soon or is it fun all the way through?

See guys? It’s things liek these that make me doubt about which games to buy…

:frowning:

Well you should start by buying a game to lessen the options available to you. I’m still wondering whether I would enjoy Otogi or not.

I could buy both games - used ones.

And thus your problem is solved.

Seems like Sega is capitalising on the success of a game that began development when Sega was actually supporting the X-Box (how delightfully cynical of me to say such a thing!). Nevertheless, I’ve kept my eye on Otogi for some time now and intend to pick up a copy soon. I’ll post my thoughts when I do.

Well Shadow my problem ain’t solved cause at this time used or unused copies of both games have basically the same price…

But I think I’ll go for Otogi cause :

I like the pretty visuals
I like linear plots (even tho they aren’t big ones)
I want some action
There is gonna be a sequel
I can’t be killing my study with 40 hourgames (KOTOR)

Huh?

That was me making a stupid observation.

However, if Otogi started development today it would be a PS2 exclusive. At least, that’s how I see Sega at the moment.

Um… I hope you are aware that Otogi isn’t developed by Sega…

It was only published by Sega in the US. The platform that Otogi was developed on has nothing to do with Sega’s hardware strategy.

It was published by Sega in Europe as well, just to confirm.

I never expected a game like Otogi from a developer like From Software. They’re not exactly known for making ninja-type action adventure games.

Sega picked up the rights because of its unexpected success in Japan but Sega may have handled the game differently if they had developed it, following in Shinobi’s footsteps.

  1. Otogi isn’t a “ninja-type action adventure game.” From Software has developed quite a variety of games ranging from King’s Field and Armored Core to Shadow Tower, etc.

  2. Otogi didn’t have an “unexpected success in Japan.” It sold as expected (which is a good thing, mind you).

  3. On what do you base the statement, “…Sega may have handled the game differently if they had developed it, following in Shinobi’s footsteps”? Given how similar the two games are, why would Sega develop them both for the same console, only to have sales and marketing efforts for each cannibalize on the other? Makes no sense.

Gah freakin japs!Die all of you, for not publishing more games for my Box!!! >(

And where are the un-sony japanese RPG’s?

Just so you know (I’m not sure if it was intentional, seeing as how English isn’t your primary language), the term “Jap” is a racial slur. Would appreciate it if people refrained from using it. Thanks

As for the un-sony Japanese RPGs… well, GC is getting a new Tales game from Namco, right? And considering that in the US, unless an RPG is as high caliber as Xenosaga or FF, it hardly gets any attention, doesn’t it make sense for developers to concentrate on the hardware that has sold the most both world-wide, and in Japan?

Actually i wasn’t talking to you speciffically. If you check our times you can see that our posts were written pretty much at the same time so…

I dind’t even know you were japanese.I thought you were just half

Anyways I kindda knew saying jap ain’t the same as saying japanese but I don’t know what BIG of an insult it is so soz if I offended you.

(well I’ve been called many worse things in this forum…)

Don’t worry. I’m not easily offended. Just saying for reference in general that using the word “Jap” isn’t something you should make a habit of.

Maybe people in the US are a little more used to being careful about those kinds of things, given the cultural atmosphere in the US, but just to show everyone the same amount of respect, it’s advisable to stay away from using words that could be construed as derogatory racial names.

nods
I know a few Japanese freinds who really get offeneded from it. It all started back after Pearl Harbor I believe… bleh, I dislike racial terms, even if it is just for fun sometimes.,…

Anyways, I want to get this game, I have played it and I rather enjoyed it. And this was made by the same folks who made King’s Field? I did not know that! I liked that game too.

Believe me we are used to foreigners here 2.

Anyways…

Um, anyway…
I have OTOGI. I bought it on the UK day of release.
It’s great fun but does get a little repetitive at times although it is a nice contrast to the strategy and planning in KOTOR. A nice way to let off steam. It does get pretty tough later on though.
