Reformatted late last year, so the computer should be clean. Been running nothing but Mozilla, so again, very low risk of Spyware, etc. (And I regularly run Adaware, Spybot, Spysweeper, CWShredder, and Hijack This. Call me paranoid.)
While that crash isn’t common, persay, it’s not unheard of. I’m not the only one, according to their tech forums. Granted, almost all MMORPGs have technical issues, simply due to the size of the game.
But, while you say there is “little” exclusive content on the Xbox, there’s also simply a lot of content that isn’t on PC, but is available on Xbox. Depends on what types of games you want to play, how you want to play them, and how much money you are willing to spend to enjoy them. There is no “better” format to play, simply a more appropriate one for the user. Consoles are simply more efficient and convenient.
Do you mean games like The Third Age which appear on all of the three major consoles, but not the PC?
If that’s case, why not get a PS2 or a Gamecube instead of an Xbox (assuming you already had a good PC) and be opened up to a whole new library of exclusive games. The point that I was trying to make was that for the PC gamer, there is very little reason to pick up an Xbox, whereas a PC gamer have a lot more reasons to buy a Playstation 2 or Gamecube to play as well their computer.
Btw, I’m mainly saying this because this is exactly the situation I’m in now: I have both a PC and an Xbox, and I’m disappointed by Microsoft’s lineup of games that are supposed to be “Only on Xbox”. If this is what the Xbox 2 is like in terms of software, then I don?t see myself buying the Microsoft console next time round.
Heh. I know the difference now, but the Baldur’s Gate episode was with my first PC and I didn’t know squat. (I was previously a Mac person.) The PC has a much higher learning curve just to get the game to work than a console does. Once you know more it gets easier, but you still can have problems.
I tried playing Neverwinter Nights recently with two of my friends. Despite the fact both of them are hard core PC gamers, neither of them could figure what was preventing me from connecting to their game (a problem I’d never had before when playing NWN with anyone else). We eventually gave up after two Sunday afternoons of going nowhere.
There is often a way to “fix” an issue in a PC game, but the point I was making is that console games don’t need to be fixed at all. You don’t have driver issues, compatibility issues, firewall issues. It’s very user friendly. Put the game in the console and it’ll go.
I have WinXP and I admit runs better than Win 95/98/Me, but I don’t play PC games much anymore since keeping current with the technology is cost prohibitive. I just can’t justify paying for a faster processor, more RAM, better graphics card, etc. when the only reason I would need it is to play more games. (Everything else the computer is supposed to do works jsut fine.) For the price of all those upgrades I can buy a console system and small library of games to go with it.
