Microsoft screws over Fable fans

Meh. What was wrong with the Xbox version won’t be fixed in the PC version.

But even so, there were some people who bought their Xboxes just to play Fable. PC gamers. If I’d have known a version of Fable was coming in high res and with a decent framerate in towns I would have waited and bought the PC version instead.

The fact remains that every major Xbox exclusive isn’t exclusive, or at least not for long. So why own an Xbox?

Because Orta still is an exclusive

Microsoft screwed over the Fable fans long ago. This is just a another insult added to the top. I’m glad I never let myself get too caught up in the hype or I imagine I would be really really pissed. Microsoft and Lionhead have made a LOT of enemies (I hope) with that game.

Umm…why would you buy a console for just one game? Especially PC gamers. Most major titles end up on the PC, if possible, to make up further sales figures. It’s the equivalent of releasing films on DVD after their cinema time.

Yeah that and Ninja Gaiden are just about the only reason I still own an Xbox. There are a few other hardcore action games that I still want to check out though like the Otogi games and Gun Valkyre but nothing in the way of RPGs?

Fable was supposibly “Only on Xbox”, and many PC gamers thought that the only way that they would be able to play this game would be to shell out for an Xbox since the developers made it quite clear earlier on that their was no plan for a PC version.

Fable, formally known as Project Ego, was also meant to be one of the greatest games ever made - trees would grow over time, every choice that you made would effect your character, you could grow old and have kids of your own… all while their would supposibly be an epic story going on while all this is happening. While Fable was quite far away from achieving all this (still a good game though), if the game that Big Blue Box had originally invisioned had become a reality then it may well have been worth getting an Xbox just for the game.

It’s like Nintendo releasing new Mario, Metroid, and Zelda games exclusively for the Gamecube and then a year later porting them to PS2.

Which they did with Sonic already. :frowning:

Yeah, I can’t say I was overly happy when Sega announced “Sonic Adventure 2: Battle” with enhanced features for the Cube when I’d already bought the Dreamcast version. Still, I can understand why Sega ported a lot of its Dreamcast games over to other consoles considering its predicament.

With the Xbox, surely Microsoft should be trying as hard as they can to establish as many exclusive franchises as possible rather than making the console more of a stripped down PC? Sony has its Grand Turismo series and also makes sure that the likes of Final Fantasy and Jak and Daxter games stay exclusive for a good while after. Nintendo has Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, etc. Most of the big Xbox franchises like Halo, Fable, and Rallisport Challenge are being ported or have been ported to PC.

How did Microsoft screw Fable fans long ago if there weren’t any fans before the game was released on a Microsoft console (XBox)?

Arcie: If you weren’t a heathen you would understand why people buy a console just for one game :anjou_angry:

There were Fable fans before the game was released.

And one good reason to buy an Xbox? Halo 2. >>

I’m prety sure you know what I’m about to say but : How can you be a fan of something that you haven’t experienced yet?

LOL And you’ll think you’ll be able to run FABLE on a 3 year old PC, or a get a new PC for ?100(the cost of the X-Box) to play FABLE as good as the X-Box version ??.

In the Saturn days you could play the likes of FF7,8 , Pro Evo, GTA on the PC but they were always deemed to be exclusive to Sony and the PS.

Wrong.

Fable screwed over Fable fans.

Pfft, beats me. Ask Solo. >>

Quiet, heretic. Let me rephrase though: “One exclusive game that’d make people buy an Xbox might be Halo 2”. Even if Bungie do decide to release it on PC I doubt we’ll see it on there before Halo 3 is released.

This move doesn’t surprise me in the least. The only real consolation is that Fable was developed with a controller in mind; the transition from control pad to keyboard will result in less intuitive controls.

I will almost certainly “acquire” a copy of the PC version when it finally arrives now that I know it is destined to come with enhanced visuals and other extras which should have been included in the original Xbox game. :anjou_angry:

And the moral to this story is… “Don’t, Don’t, Don’t , Don’t believe the hype…OOOOOh yea ha hah.”

Flavor Flav of Public Enemy.

Like I said fine if you’re got a top Spec PC. Me I rather play it on my ?99 console, on my big sofa right now.

Oh Look Pro Evo, Silent Hill 4 ect are on the PC too. Quess console owners are screwed again  :stuck_out_tongue:

Thing is you can use computers for more than just gaming and console games are more expensive than PC ones.
