Help me with girigiri, please :o((

I know the war is over for everyone, but I’m still having problems with giri and Azel…I did everything listed in the “how to make girigiri working with XP”, but it still doesnt want to load…So I’ve got : XP, powerful computer, PAL euro Saga…When I lauch the giri shortcut, firts I’v got an error message (I don’t understand a word, except “directsound”) and then the saturn emulation begins…And then I get the load screen, with a message in japanese (I guess it says i should insert a proper saturn CD)…
i’ve changed the region code, everything…well, i’ve done all that :
Getting GiriGiri working under Windows XP . the one thing strange is that, when I launch GLAUCH.EXE, I have 2 error messages : the one with “directsound in it” and another one…HELP ME, PLEASE!!! Should I leave the CD in the CD drive? I don’t have a clue?!?

  1. Unzip all the files from girigiri_saturn.zip (which can be downloaded from panzerdragoon.net/programs/g … saturn.zip ) into a new folder. All folders in the directory path it must not have spaces in them. For example, c:\emulators\girigiri would be alright, but c:\emulated games\girigiri would not.

  2. Open up the directory and run GLAUNCH.EXE once.

  3. Choose what Resolution and control settings you want, then click on the “Hacked by Gavionne” logo.

  4. An Error window will display containing foreign characters. Click on OK anyway.

– Rip the game using CDRWIN or another CD ripping utility –
Download: download.com.com/3000-2646-10153 … ag=lst-0-1
Information: goldenhawk.com/cdrwin.htm

  1. Move the .bin and .cue files of your game (such as panzersaga1.cue and panzersaga1.bin) to the same folder that you unzipped the GiriGiri files into.

– Download and install DAEMON Tools or another virtual drive program –
Download: cd-rw.org/software/cdr_softw … _tools.cfm
Information: daemon-tools.cc

  1. Using the DAEMON Tools program, mount panzersaga1.cue to your Virtual drive.

  2. Go Start>Run and type in the directory path to gentoc.exe (or click browse to find it), followed by a space and then the name of the .cue file. Then click OK.
    For example: D:\girigiri\gentoc.exe panzersaga1.cue

  3. Create a shortcut to gsaturn.exe by right clicking on gsaturn.exe and selecting “Create Shortcut”.

  4. Right click on the shortcut you just created and select Properties.

  5. Add a space and then -i on the end of the target.
    For Example: D:\girigiri\gsaturn.exe -i

  6. Now click on the Compatibility tab up the top.

  7. Tick the box next to “Run this program in compatibility for:” and then choose “Windows 98 / Windows Me” for the drop down list.

  8. Open base.ini and change fourth and sixth lines. In the fourth line you need to change the area code to one that matches the country of your CD. See the list below:

1 = Japan
2 = Taiwan/Philipines
4 = US/C
5 = Brazil
12 = Europe

On line 6, change from
DISK1IMG=.\trck.bin
to
DISK1IMG=.\panzersaga1.bin
depending on what you named the .bin file for your game.
Click OK.

  1. Now run GiriGiri from the shortcut you created before. If all went well you’ll be playing Panzer Dragoon Saga on your PC =D

I am completely clueless. Solo might be able to help you, however.

AFAIK Saturn emulation is far from perfect. I recommend playing PD Saga through your trusty Saturn for now.

Hmm…

The error message should appear anyway when you click the “Hacked by Gavionne”. Is that when it’s appearing?

Mmmh, I have 2 messages error…One with “DirectSound”, and the other with some unreadable characters…When I do everything in the tutorial, I still have the error message with directsound…:o(

The same thing happens to me: (btw, i have the japanese version of Saga)

  1. After I click Hacked by Gavionne, two errors appear, one with nothing I can understand but “directsound” and the second with nothing I can understand. I ignore and continue with the steps.

  2. Everything seems to work perfectly, but when I’m all done and ready to run the shortcut, the same two errors appear again.
    :frowning:

I’ve never encountered two errors appearing together like that. Sorry, I can’t help you any more.

snif! thanks anyway…maybe it has something to do with directsound…

Whew…I got my Saturn fixed instead of my Girigiri. Oh well, good enough: least I can play PDS now!
