Halo 2 or Panzer?

Gehn you tart I thought you were gonna buy QIIIA off one of your mates?

You already have good reasons to buy the game: it’s cheap and addictive.

I’m lookin’ forward to rapin’ yo ass btw :stuck_out_tongue:

XD

Hmm, I actually do have Exhumed. Didn’t realise. I think I only played it once though.

PowerSlave was what Lobotomy had also named the Exhumed/PowerSlave game engine. (As in they also used the PowerSlave engine for the Saturn Duke Nukem and Quake) I guess they thought Exhumed made more sense but at the same time gave it more mystery.

I think that this is meant to mean that they just used the same engine from PowerSlave in those games - not that it was literally named the “PowerSlave engine”. This is a pretty common way of referring to a game that runs off the same engine as an older one. They used the Doom engine for Heretic, for example - but “Doom” wasn’t the engine’s official name.

Yeah, Exhumed was class.

I really liked the Egyption tunes that were played in the background - very atmospheric. The music played during the credits was great too.

I managed to obtain all the pieces of the radio and saw the good ending but not on my first go.

Did anyone manage to find the hidden team dolls throughout the game? I couldn’t find any! I had to use a guide and eventually found them all, they are VERY well hidden. One of the dolls was hidden at the bottom of a laser-field shaft and it was a PAIN in the ASS to levitate through. It took me well over 100 attempts ‘cos I kept on gettin’ fried lol

Pete, I’d seriously recommend playing through the game again. See if you can find the team dolls too, the reward is cool and well worth it

I think I might have posted this link before, but check it out anyway:

users2.ev1.net/~belpowerslave/powerslave.html

It’s a Lobotomy fansite. There’s a section that reveals all the team doll locations.

Absolutely ditto

Though the bits I remember being irritated by the places where you were expected to Rocket Jump up immensely high shafts by repeatedly nuking the wall next to you with explosives.

Yes, finding the Team Dolls was a truly… er… masochistic experience.

No no no, PowerSlave was the name of their game engine too. If you’ve got any issues of SSM you will find an interview in there which shows this fact.

Tut tut. You guys should really check out that fansite. The author of the site mentions the name of the engine:

There you have it, Slave Driver

Thanx for the site Kage

Oh the memories.I want Exhumed 2.

I think the manouvre was called a “bomb-boost”. I remember on one particular level you had to use it from the onset to gain high ground, trying to bomb-boost without killing yourself from the damage AND landing on the super-high ledges AND not falling into the lava pit below AND trying to kill those bloody monster things AT THE SAME TIME - wasn’t easy. I can’t remember what that level was called, but you could exit it rather quickly by bomb-boosting to the camel on a ledge, but then you’d miss the radio piece! Is that the level you meant?

Lance/Gehn, you guys remember a level that was completely flooded and you had to navigate through those underwater caverns? Remember the bit where you were about 5 floors underground in a large flooded room, the air in your lungs was depleting fast and right before you there are 2 exits whose doors are suddenly beginning to close? You had to make a choice - fast.

Quickly swmming to the correct exit before the door closed would bring you to the surface for some life-saving oxygen, however, swimming through the wrong “exit” would lead you to a small, dark, enclosed room. You attempt to swim to the surface of the room but SMACK your head against the stone ceiling - there’s no pocket of air, a dead end.

At this point your lungs are bleeding and your health is plummetting.

You turn around to exit through the door you came through but it’s too late - it slams shut, you’re sealed in.

I chose the wrong door. I immediately thought to myself, “shit”.

Unfortunately, I suffocated, died and had to restart the level :frowning: I was only a lickle kid at the time, my adrenalin went through the roof, my heart was beating like mad and I was on the verge of cardiac arrest. No game quite had the same effect on me as Exhumed did lol

How did you guys do? I bet Gehn suffocated :stuck_out_tongue: (Now there’s wishful thinking :stuck_out_tongue: )

I really loved the game’s atmosphere and the challenge it offered, looking back now at my Saturn top 10, I think it deserves to be higher.

By the time I found the last doll I had lost 63% of my hair.

Np man.

I’m not sure if Exhumed 2 being a third person shooter was a wise decision though (read the Lobotomy interview). The ideas they had (ala Shadowman/Soul Reaver) sounded good but I don’t think it would have done the original game justice, plus it’d play totally different. It should have been another FPS.

Wonder if the game will ever be revived…

Yeah; I’m still thinking in Quake terms:) You don’t even have rockets in Exhumed, of course - just bombs and whatever comes out of the Cobra staff (if I’m remebering correctly?)

Ah, the painful memories come flooding back… yes, though I had completely forgotten about it, I now remember that level in unpleasant clarity. If you’re interested, I too chose the “wrong” exit on my first attempt.

It surprises me that, prior to this topic, I’d completely forgotten this game ever existed. I guess it’s because I’ve played so many FPS games over the years, and because I never owned the game, just borrowed it off a friend for a long period of time… but yes, for the time it really was excellent. Definitely up there with the best FPS games on the Saturn - probably rivalled only by the good Duke (ironically also by Lobotomy).

Whoa, this thread has definitely found its way into that mysterious alternate realm known as “off-topicness”…

I’LL HELP!!
So, hmm, Halo 2 or Panzer Dragoon. Hmmmmm…

Pick panzer or death will come to you

Ryb : I only played the game once.:frowning:
It’s one of those saturn passions I have…

Like Nights : only played it once but I consider myself a fan of the game.

I don’t own either game :frowning:

But yeah I remember it.It could be frustrating.

What are the team dolls you guys are talking about? It has been 4 years or so since I played the game…
