Greatest Sega Saturn Games!

What posts? >:)

I think Sonic Team could have done better with Burning Rangers, or saved the idea behind the game for the Dreamcast.

ah, yes, it would have been better on dreamcast…would have probably sold quite a lot as well…they could have made a Burning Rangers 2! but nooooo…the should have made more sequels…of the old saturn games, that would have done very well! shining sequels on the saturn…mmm, or dragon force…DAMN THEM…ah, well.

Well we did get Phantasy Star Online and the Sonic Adventure games out of Sonic Team, both of which have been hugely successful. You could say Sonic Team has kept Sega alive during these trying times.

ah, your right^^ even though they did fail in some senses, they did come up with some unforgetable games…I’ll never forget sonic Adventure…the feeling I got from playing it was just so great…makes me feel like I’m gonna cry…

I prefer great original games for only the saturn that no one has ever played unless they have a saturn  It makes it more special. For me for example, PDS wouldn’t be as special if it was realeased on PS, and N64. And re released on the new next gen consoles.

That’s a good point scott…now that I think about it, it’s cool that only I outa of all my friends have some of the best games ever^^ and that they will never get the full taste of these wonderful games like I have:) I think of RPG’s differently thanks to these games…and they won’t ever probably think the same way as I do…it does make it seem special:)

I can’t understand how someone actually likes PSO.The environments, beasts, weapons are all so artificial.Oh and talk about non-existing plot

I’d have to disagree on this one… I would rather people had been given the opportunity to play these great games than them miss out. Sure it’s nice to have some games to defend the reason we like that console, but is it a good thing that people missed out on these games? Not really.

The key reason here is communication. Never before on a console has there been a game quite like PSO. Being able to play alongside gamers thousands of miles away was something unique and made the gameplay different everytime. The fact that is was an RPG added to the overall appeal.

Yeah maybe it was … fun…

I can see your point… but i prefer things that are original and excellent not to be ported straight to other consoles and stuff. It makes the saturn unique, i wouldn’t like it if things like NiGHTS, Burning Rangers and Panzer Dragoon Saga were remade onto the ewer consoles for this very reason.
P.S - Any more top 10’s??

Burning Rangers was good but did seem pretty rushed, especially in the graphics department. It was pretty novel that the levels changed slightly each time you played.

You can get classic Saturn games on the PC such as Sonic R, Sega Rally, Virtua Cop, Panzer Dragoon, Sonic 3D and Daytona CCE.

I too am neither here nor there on the whole Saturn exclusivity thing. I like that the only way to play some of the greatest games is to have a Saturn but I would have preferred for more people to own one so I could have found more people to talk about said games to!

I have yet to play BR, despite it sitting right here in front of me =/

It was that, I just got addicted to it was all…I wanted to collect more and gain new levels…maybe I just haven’t played a decent RPG, such as PDS, in such a long time. Not saying that PSO is a good RPG, just saying I need something to get me excited about a game again!

I can also see your point there solo, it would be nice being able to talk to my friends more with them actually knowing what the hell I’m talking about and appriciating (SPELLING MISTAKE FOR YOU THERE NEIL) the attacks and beauty of them game as I do.

I think the beauty if PSO is that it isn’t as short as RPG’s usually are.

Speaking of PSO… are the Dreamcast servers still up? I assume they were taken down when the Cube and Xbox versions came out.

I logged more than 800 hours (split between 3 characters) on PSO. Part of the appeal, I feel, is that instead of a plodding menu driven and turn-based combat system (albeit, combat in PSO is pretty simplistic and repetitive) you have everyone and everything running around and attacking at the same time. It really does play like a hack 'n slash game.

And of course, the OBVIOUS pull of PSO is its online component. I made quite a few friends with that game, and yes, I DO still keep in touch with them.

As far as I know, Solo, the DC servers are kaput.

I think they’re still alive. I have a mate who still plays PSO online, although she does have a DC and a GC, and I’m not 100% sure which console she has PSO on.

Now that you mention it, Shadow, the European DC PSO servers may still be up. I know for a fact that the NA DC PSO servers are dead, though.

She lives in England, so yeah, it might be that the Euro ones are still up. Thats what I hate about online games, who knows when they’ll take the servers down?

O_O - i have it but havn’ completed it… on the last level tho!
