It works for some girls. Only the ones that are traditional and have manners themselves though, and I have met one or two of them before 
Quite frankly i dunno what’s tradition as far as dating is concerned…
I just try to talk to her by asking to a friend or doing something stupid like walking thru a corridor and saying "Hi, my name is Pedro, what’s yours?"
