Oh well, I’ll post it anyway: Link removed. The site in question was selling illegal ISOs of recent games - SWD

haaaaaaaaaaaaaa @ some of the stuff on that site…

Hi Kadamose,

Unfortunately, due to your actions at 04:59 am (GMT+12) this morning, you have been banned from these forums.

This matter is open for negotiation. If you believe that this treatment was unfair, or you wish to pursue the reasoning behind this ban further, please feel free to send me an email.

Regards,

Solo Wing Dragon

hmmm… well you had to kinda expect that…

First TWOTA ban ever? I was expecting it to be a different person but oh well, this will do.

A sound warning could’ve worked. o.o;; He’s never done anything ban worthy before. As far as I can tell.

No warning is needed.Everyone knows you can’t talk about illegal stuff 'round here.

I really don’t see what the problem is. No one can stop piracy, especially since over 80% of the world does it. (yes, that figure really is correct). The only countries that wish to stop piracy are basically, the US, Japan, the UK and Germany. Basically, it’s the corporatocracy making all the rules; with that in mind, what sane person would actually follow them? For christ sake, videogames and ALL software are MANUFACTURED SCARCITY; in other words, even though the data can be infinitely duplicated, the powers that be say that this isn’t the case, and try to create laws to protect their IP. Anyone who supports Intellectual Property laws are, in fact, supporting facism.

That’s just my two cents.

You’ve been warned in the past about the issue, if you fail to understand that posting such content on this forum is performing an action against the very forum you want to post so badly on that you make alternate logins (instead of simply contact Solo as he requested), then that says a lot about your intelligence, and therefor your opinions.

There’s nothing wrong with Solo protecting the site him and so many others have poured their time and effort into. If people wish to discuss piracy, there are plenty of other places on the net they can do it.

The first ban was a user called “Druff”. This would be first ban of a regular member, though.

A warning would be been sufficient, unfortunately that tactic has not worked with this user (he has indeed been warned about posting such links in the past).

I have no problem with people talking about illegal stuff, so long as they aren’t requesting illegal files or posting links to sites where these files can be found. But simply sharing an opinion is not an issue.

You are entitled to your views, and are welcome to share them, however my webhost has specifically made it clear that Transmission of any material in violation of any Country, Federal, State or Local regulation is prohibited. You can argue as much as you like with this, but at the end of the day, these are the rules, and it is not up to you or I to define our own. The server that this website is hosted on is located in the USA (not Sealand I’m afraid), so therefore it falls under US law.

If you are unhappy with my response then I suggest you send an email to abuse@dreamhost.com and explain the situation - I would be very interested in hearing their response.

And you know what, Kimimi is absolutely right. These are plenty of other places to share and link to pirated content, so why do you feel the need to spread it here? In fact, I will link you to another excellent site where you’ll find an almost unlimited supply of torrents, ISOs, and cartoon catgirls to satisfy you to your hearts content. Enjoy!

By obviously being the black sheep on these boards and elsewhere, it is my duty to play the devil’s advocate. I am against democracy and capitalism and will not tolerate such ideals. With that in mind, you can keep on banning me Solo – but it won’t stop me because I use an anonymous proxy.

I did not email you because I knew what kind of response you were going to give beforehand. The fact that you’re pussy-whipped and follow the rules of the insane US government, even though you aren’t a US citizen yourself, is enough to warrant a head examination.

To be honest, I originally created this thread to see just how far I could push you, and to see what kind of reactions I would get from the others. In fact, the original message was edited three times, the second message containing the following: “The link has been removed because it violates the forum rules”, which was edited again and is what you see now. As I said, this was merely a test to see just how far I could go before setting off the alarms.

With that said, if you would be so kind as to unban my Kadamose username, I promise not to post ‘links’ to ISOs or other material you find unworthy. If you do not comply with this request, however, I cannot guarantee that these other usernames I will be creating in the future will follow these rules to the letter. There has to be a little compromise on both sides if you wish to see an outcome that is satisfactory.

So, you are basically saying that he’s pussy whipped for protecting this site by complying with the rules of his webhost, and then you go on to threaten him that if he doesn’t comply with your own rules you will do things that can harm his website… So people are pussy whipped for playing by the rules set by goverments, hosts, whoever has power over specific things like this site, and your perfect world would be a world where people play by your rules instead and in any occasion you are able to, you will try to threaten your way in achieving that.

No thanks, there are ways to ban you I’m sure. Even if not, Solo can always enable a nice forum option that makes his permission required for the activation of new member accounts.

There is a difference between being “pussy-whipped” (an interesting choice of word, considering most of the people in power in the US are male) and playing it safe. Like you said yourself, a little compromise is necessary if you wish to see an outcome. I want cheap and reliable web hosting, so I’m willing to go follow copyright laws and the rules set down by my webhost.

FYI… New Zealand copyright laws aren’t all that different than US copyright laws. In some respects, they are even stricter. Did you know that until recently, there was no legal way of putting music on an iPod?

Do I personally agree with every aspect of copyright law? No, I don’t in fact. However I’m willing to follow that law on this website because this is a publicly viewable website and I believe that it’s more important for this site to represent what Panzer Dragoon is all about, rather than become a haven for piracy.

Will I unban your account? Yes, but not because of your threats. As Al3x said, there other ways of preventing you posting besides banning an IP range or user name. But it doesn’t need to come to that. If you are happy to respect the way that this site is run, and its members, I am happy to unban your account.

I’d rather see that asshole banned from the internet than see Solo Wing arrested for another cock suckers actions.

“To be honest, I originally created this thread to see just how far I could push you, and to see what kind of reactions I would get from the others”

I’m flattered :anjou_happy: To think someone pays close attention to what I post in a web forum makes me feel good about myself.

Kadamose… after eight years, you still haven’t changed one bit. You’re something else, heh.

Of course not. The only way people truly ever change is through a near-death experience or through severe trauma of some kind - none of which I have yet experienced. But why must I change? I’m right, and the world is wrong. Just because the majority rules, doesn’t mean that I should jump ship and switch sides.

scratches hair Don’t know how you’re right in a globally illegal matter, but hey.

He’ll get tired of trying to annoy everyone here. I know I did very quickly. I must say this is the first time I’ve seen someone with 500 posts or more being twats on any forum. Piracy is illegal. Yes it is probably the most un-enforced law in history but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
