But I’m not sure why there was ever any uncertainty as to the naming of the beasts of burden from which Lagi originated. I’ve seen them referred to as both Coolias and, oddly enough, Khoureats …
… I figure folk just hadn’t heard the term “Coolie” before. A Chinese term for dock-workers or manual labourers. There tend to be a lot of them in the Kung Fu films I collect, so I’m pretty familiar with the term.
And it always struck me as just common sense that simple beasts of burden would be called “coolies” … Just seems apt.
Sorry if I’m stating the obvious here, but I suppose what I’m asking is if anyone did NOT find this obvious? >_>
