Dunno if I mentioned this before in the dim and distant past…

But I’m not sure why there was ever any uncertainty as to the naming of the beasts of burden from which Lagi originated. I’ve seen them referred to as both Coolias and, oddly enough, Khoureats …

… I figure folk just hadn’t heard the term “Coolie” before. A Chinese term for dock-workers or manual labourers. There tend to be a lot of them in the Kung Fu films I collect, so I’m pretty familiar with the term.
And it always struck me as just common sense that simple beasts of burden would be called “coolies” … Just seems apt.

Sorry if I’m stating the obvious here, but I suppose what I’m asking is if anyone did NOT find this obvious? >_>

I think khoureat was a translation error.

In the fan-translated “World” document from PDZ, Kimimi has translated the word as coolia:

I’m supposing that it came from just trying to listen to the word being pronounced and writing down what they thought was said…
Differences in accents and whatnot can make a big difference in that regard.
